And this is why they haven't demolished Kyiv yet. Ukrainian air defense is still very active and effective if they're shooting down Su34s.

You don't typically take out these advanced fighter jets just w/ stingers. They're too fast and typically fly too high.

So either this guy was flying super low and/or someone got really lucky. Or more likely, it was hit by something else.

At this point I question how well trained the Russian pilots are…and honestly how good their planes are.

I mean... the Su 34 is no F22 but neither is anything else. It's faster and has more range and payload than the F35 but isn't as stealthy. That's not what the F35 is made for anyway.

It's still a $40M effective jet and from what i've read and they don't have that many of them. If they lost 2 in the same day, that's fairly big.

An F35 can probably evade a lot of defense systems. An Su 35, might be more adapt at flying too fast for some of them.

This is a comprehensive list of documented losses for both sides. I'm confident in this list, as it corroborates with a lot of the journalists who are tracking these and the operator has resisted calls to not count Ukrainian losses.

This is a civilian-level tracking project though, so assess the information accordingly.

Russia's economy is only slightly larger than the state of Florida. The bottom line is there's no way for them to build one of the largest militaries in the world without cutting some corners somewhere. My guess is those corners cut included training and testing.

Prior to WWII the U.S. designed some new fancy torpedoes, but never tested them because they were in a depression and torpedoes are expensive to build. They didn't want to "waste" them by destroying them in tests. It wasn't until they started using them in real combat that they found out they didn't work. We may be seeing something similar with some of the Russian equipment.

I just checked on this. It is mind boggling as far as thinking Russia is on par.  The US has 2600+  operational 5th generation stealth fighters.  Russia has none (maybe a few prototypes), and only has 125 4th generation, SU34s.

...not any more.

If the US really went to war with Russia I guess it would be like an NFL team playing a JR high football team.
