Every time anyone tries to make it harder to get guns it gets shot down (pardon the pun). That doesn't mean I agree with some of the NY and Chicago city ordinances allowing 17 and under to get away with crime. El Guapo
Guns have always been around. Millions own guns and do not commit crime. Millions carry because of the increase in criminality. It is against the law to steal, murder, etc. It supposedly more serious if you use a gun. Criminals do not give a crap about any laws. So what fucking gun control policy do you think will reduce crime? I have one. Execute the convicted murderer within a week. Anyone using a gun to commit a crime does hard labor for years. Double police pay and increase their numbers. Increase stop and search. Vote out all the DA’s that refuse to attack crime. Popular Post nine
Guns haven’t always been around…only for the past couple centuries. CRIME has always been around… and always will be as long as human beings are involved. In 2020, firearm sales in the US exploded by 60% in a single year…and to this day remain significantly higher than the pre-pandemic era. In that same year, the number of gun-related deaths increased by 30% over the previous year. So in a single 12-month period, the United States saw an unprecedented increase in the number of guns sold…AND an unprecedented increase in the number of gun deaths . But I’m sure it’s probably just a coincidence, right ? I fully support Second Amendment rights and responsible gun ownership… the key word being RESPONSIBLE. Making firearms readily available and easily accessible for anyone who wants one isn’t “responsible “; It’s a fucking free-for-all. And likewise…most areas have lax gun laws with zero regulation or monitoring and that require zero accountability on the part of gun owners. “Responsible” gun ownership, my ass. I fully agree that the majority of gun owners DO practice responsible ownership. But the fact is, gun-related crime and gun violence are worse now than ever before…so our current policies and gun laws are clearly inadequate. Gun control opponents point to the strict restrictions in places like Chicago, New York, DC, and California as proof that gun control laws don’t work…but what keeps them from working is the lack of consistency from one state the next. If someone in Chicago or DC wants a gun, they can simply drive an hour to rural Indiana or Virginia where laws are less restrictive. Or simply take advantage of the numerous loopholes in the laws, like purchasing firearms from private sellers and so-called “collectors” who can sell dozens or hundreds of weapons per year free from scrutiny and regulation. And this is just the LEGAL gun sales. It doesn’t account at all for the tens of millions of illegal weapons that are floating around on the streets…or the “ghost guns” that are sold as kits or separate easily-assembled components that are unnumbered and untraceable. Americans love paying lip service to “responsible” gun ownership….but until we’re willing to demand and enforce it, the phrase is just fluffy feelgood bullshit. Again….the majority of gun owners ARE responsible owners. But we don’t just make guns available to those who are committed to responsible ownership; we make them available to virtually EVERYONE. And as long as we insist on making guns readily available to everyone ….victims of gun crime and violence will just have to be written off as a cost of doing business. titanruss, MadMax, IsntLifeFunny, and 3 others

By your logic, my convicted murderer former client who just had the State file paperwork agreeing that his conviction should be vacated because of bad DNA evidence should have been killed immediately to satisfy your blood lust. (He was convicted of the crime about 10 years ago). It's not the first Client I have had who turned out to be innocent.... but to hell with an ability to appeal in criminal cases conferred by State constitutional or statutory law. Many inmates are generally required to do forced prison labor as part of their incarceration. Been like that for a long time. Many States also already impose enhanced punishment ranges for offenses that involve firearms or deadly weapons, although I'd imagine some could be better enforced/implemented. "Increase stop and search." Fuck that pesky Fourth Amendment, always gets in the way of the purported "law and order" types.
