freakingeek
Hang him high. Fuck the goons. Just like the proud boys and the other numb nuts are finding out, the wheels of the government might move slowly but they will ultimately get the last word. This was a very complicated situation being an ex president but this is not like the Mueller investigation. Trump is no longer in office. These were high crimes, not some Willy Nilly bull crap . The Jan. 6 committee did an awesome job laying out exactly what happened and who did it. Witnesses were under oath. Trump will still milk it all the way to being convicted so he can keep the money rolling in, but government is fixing to take him down hard. The GOP will bail on him except the fringe mob and their idiots. This was a great day for Democracy. Now the DOJ is on the clock. The GOP will bail on him except the fringe mob and their idiots. This was a great day for Democracy. Now the DOJ is on the clock. The thug-like proTrump warnings were emblazoned and parroted everywhere: Overnight, there will be blood in the streets, civil war if,... "insert blank"... against Trump were to happen. Reality: for the most part.... *crickets*, including from his staunch defenders as Trump's narcissism, depravity, and blatantly hands-on MO were laid bare in his repeated attacks against fundamental democratic principles, culminating in a direct assault against da Da Constitution itself. Trump planned and executed a multifaceted coup against the incoming president of the United States. Even in early 2021, most Americans didn't want to believe that. The public record from the Jan6 committee shows otherwise. Collectively, as a country that extols the virtues of our governmental structure, we have to own that this happened on our watch. Like with any bully, if repubs had showed all that moral character they used to go on about, early in his presidency -- and indeed showed leadership with their own base and the red meat media carny barkers -- we could have minimized this terrible man's stain on the office and on our country. The shame from this may not penetrate the ensconced repub bubble, but the direct accomplices to this fiasco have been identified and are written into history -- a negative sidebar to be ridiculed and learned from. Good people should not consistently yield to objectively bad, amoral people to win the rhetoric, to own the libs, etc. That and for those fools who saw Trump as a vessel for their own gains, Faustian bargains suck. Starkiller
I’m starting to think there was some corruption going on in the Trump administration… https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/21/only-one-trump-tax-return-as-president-got-mandatory-irs-audit-report-says.html Only one of Donald Trump’s annual federal income tax returns began being audited by the IRS when he served as president, despite the agency having a policy dating to 1977 of conducting mandatory tax examinations of sitting presidents, a House committee said in a new report Tuesday evening. And that IRS audit of Trump’s 2016 income tax return was not completed by the time he left office in January 2021, the report by the Ways and Means Committee found. And neither of two Trump-related business entities that the IRS told the committee were part of the mandatory examination program was designated for an audit in five of the six years covered by an investigation, according to the report. And in that sixth year, in 2017, there is “no indication” the entities’ tax returns were designated for audit, the report found. “Clearly, the mandatory audit program was dormant, at best, during the prior Administration,” the report said. The report was released shortly after the Democrat-led panel voted along party lines to authorize the public release of redacted copies of Trump’s federal tax returns and those of eight related business entities in coming days. The report found that when Trump was in the White House, the IRS failed to designate for mandatory audit Trump’s tax return for 2015, when he was running for president, and then again for the returns filed for the 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 tax years. “The former President’s individual income tax returns filed in 2018, 2019, and 2020 were not selected for examination until after he left office and only the 2016 tax return was subject to a mandatory examination,” the report said. luvyablue256, and IsntLifeFunny

ctm
On CNN Friday, former Defense Department special counsel and New York University Law Professor Ryan Goodman explained some of the incriminating new evidence revealed against former President Donald Trump in his role in the plot to overturn the 2020 presidential election — and zoomed in on a call he placed to Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel. "For example, that one smoking gun so far is a call that Trump makes to the head of the RNC," said Goodman. "And he hands over the call to John Eastman to say, we want you to organize the false slate of electors. That's all we had in the past. We now know she calls Donald Trump back soon after the call and says, I accept your request, which means it's about him, it's not about Eastman. And their other lawyers for the Trump campaign who say to the committee that it was Donald Trump who put Giuliani in control of this false slate of electors and what Giuliani was doing, as far as they were concerned, was executing what Donald Trump wanted them to do. That's pretty devastating." "Then there is a bunch of other testimony that we hadn't heard before from Cassidy Hutchinson, saying that Mark Meadows was significantly involved, following it closely, making dozens of calls to try to operationalize the false slate of electors," added Goodman. "I think they're in some pretty deep trouble with both of those." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/pretty-devastating-legal-expert-outlines-smoking-gun-phone-call-between-trump-and-ronna-mcdaniel/ar-AA15CJSH?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=78f57ab9246c45919e47f5a2d80347fe begooode, reo, and OILERMAN

begooode
Former Vice President Mike Pence is expected to resist a subpoena for testimony as part of a Justice Department special counsel’s investigation into former President Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, a source familiar with Pence’s plans confirmed to The Hill. Pence is preparing to fight a subpoena from Jack Smith, the special counsel assigned by Attorney General Merrick Garland to oversee investigations into Trump, including one focused on the events of Jan. 6, 2021, and Trump’s efforts to remain in power. Pence and his team say that serving as the former president of the Senate essentially makes him a member of the legislative branch and he would therefore be shielded from the subpoena under the “speech and debate” clause of the Constitution. The former vice president’s resistance is likely to result in a legal battle that could end up at the Supreme Court and determine the extent of the powers and independence of the vice presidency. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/3857045-pence-to-fight-subpoena-from-special-counsel/ luvyablue256, Starkiller, and IsntLifeFunny
