begooode Posted April 29, 2020 Report Share Posted April 29, 2020 President Trump’s approval rating for his handling of the coronavirus dropped 10 points from last month after an initial bump, according to a new Emerson College poll. Thirty-nine percent of those surveyed approved of Trump’s efforts to tackle the outbreak, a drop from 49 percent last month. The poll, released Tuesday, found that 51 percent said they disapproved of the president's handling of the virus, a jump from 41 percent in March. The president’s overall approval rating has ticked downward since last month, dropping from 46 percent to 41 percent. The drops come after Trump’s overall approval rating leapt to new highs before dropping back down to the low- to mid-40s range it had consistently been stuck in since 2017. Assuming the statistics being reported are reasonably accurate, we are definitely seeing less positive percentage of tests. Hard to pinpoint exactly why though. Could be the effects of lock downs and social distancing, could be testing more people shows the initial numbers were inflated due to only testing the obviously sick, or some combination of factors. I guess the proof will be in the reopening pudding. If we get a spike in numbers, I'd say the decrease we are seeing now is more due to lock downs and social distancing. "The data shows that remdesivir has a clear-cut, significant, positive effect in diminishing the time to recovery," said the institute's director, Dr. Anthony Fauci. About 1,090 people participated in the trial internationally, Fauci said, calling it "the first truly high-powered randomized placebo controlled trial." Preliminary data show remdesivir has improved recovery time for coronavirus patients from 15 to 11 days. "Although a 31% improvement doesn't seem like a knockout 100%, it is very important proof of concept," Fauci said, "because what it has proven is that a drug can block this virus."
