Tannehill = Mariota   You guys are crazy if you think otherwise. You can pull all the biased stats you want. Tannehill has those too.    Tannehill would be smart to take a small co

It's about ROI.  The NFL average for positional spending at QB in 2018 was $ 18.355 M.  The Titans spent $ 9.8 M (27th).  The offense ranking in points scored.....27th.   In 2019, the Titans

If you had Tannehill backing up Mariota you would need to keep a 3rd QB on the roster because there is no guarantee they would remain healthy at the same time.

The morons here who don’t like mariota say we should invest in a Qb backup almost/as good as mariota.

The morons in’s here don’t believe we can win a Super Bowl with mariota.

the morons here don’t understand their own logic.

Unless mariota takes a healthy step or we get someone significantly better than Marcus... the backup qb position doesn’t mean shit.

We WANT to lose out if we are stuck with a backup who can’t win a super bowl.

If if you think we need a backup as good as mariota then you believe we can win now with Marcus.. and should probably stfu

If we had a more capable back up besides Gabbert, we might have beaten the Colts and it's possible Mariota is healthy enough to start in the playoffs.

I agree. But you do that with the assumption that mariota is good enough to win throughout the playoffs.

The guys I’m arguing with do not assume that.

So bringing in an equal to Marcus does nothing. .. if neither are good enough for the playoffs.

Im all for bringing in a better player to backup. it’s needed. But to want to bring in a backup on the same level in hopes he can steal the job is stupid.. especially if you don’t believe that level is good enough to win in the playoffs

We beat 4 (and almost 5) of the final eight team in the NFL playoffs (Houston, Dallas, Philadelphia, New England, and a 2-pt conversion shy of beating San Diego). Yes I know we also lost to Houston. The team we struggled with the most, the Dolts, finally got pummeled in the playoffs. Is Andrew Luck not good enough because he cannot win a playoff game? Drew Brees has only been good enough one time to avoid a season where he couldn't win a playoff game. Philip Rivers? Aaron Rodgers, like Drew Brees, has only had one transcendent season by this standard.

The ability to "win a playoff game" seems like a specious standard by which to judge a QB. Mariota is 1-1 in playoff games, so can he win them or not?

Mariota's struggles are real, but winning a playoff game is a team effort, as is any game. Not emerging as The Champion is no standard to live or die by.
