OILERMAN
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/34/other-other-topics/knife-vs-bat-who-wins-1648/ If you were gonna fight someone, all factors being equal- size, weight, skill, etc...would you choose a bat or a knife, and why? Your opponent would get the other.
OILERMAN
Interesting and entertaining thread. Both sides made good arguments..... The knife sounds like a no brainer(absorb/block one then stab) hit at first but then news stories are posted about people using a bat to kill someone attacking them with a knife. Rogue
Bat for the reach. Particularly a aluminum bat that is light and hard.
abenjami
I'll read the thread when I get a chance but I'm going bat all the way.

I thought so at first but you aren't getting a lot of clean hits with a bat. someone could rush you, block a bat swing and stab you pretty easily. You might break their arm while taking a fatal stab wound. titanruss
oldschool
If you know how to handle a blade, knife all the way. If you are untrained go with the bat 10/10 times. reo
pat
If you know how to handle a blade than you'll know to swing the bat going backwards to maintain distance. Bat FTW.
Guest
If I have a bat in my hands you better be some sort of ninja to get a knife into me. All I need to do is maintain the distance between us and you're in trouble like facing a boxer with alot more reach. Prefer a golf club though. I kinda felt stupid writing that though. Next we go to the age old question every 9 year old needs answering i.e. Lion vs. Grizzly. If you are pondering on these things too much I would say find some sort of life coach. Even the biggest, strongest men in the world are going to have issues trying to "block" a bat swing. Even if you block the bat, it's going to hurt like a bitch and there will be another swing coming a split second later. You really think you are going to be able to stab me a second or two after shattering your arm "blocking" the bat? Good luck. More likely you will fall to the ground cringing in pain from the broken arm and then I won't even need the bat anymore. This reminds me of the Home Depot survival thread from a few years ago when a bunch of people claimed they would take nail guns without realizing that unlike bullets, the nails fly end over end and they would also have to carry around a heavy air compressor. Obviously it depends on the person's skill set though. Retard who can't swing a bat very well should take the knife.
Guest
I know a dude who got into a road rage incident and they pulled over and the other dude comes out with a bat. He swings it and dude puts his arm up to block it. Broken arm. Fight over. To the hospital. Never pull over.
Guest
Well you can pull over...just drive away again as soon as the dude gets out of his car. That's what i do.
Starkiller
The one who wins is probably the one who connects first. Doesn't really matter which weapon... Edited December 6, 2015 by Starkiller Stranger, and Soxcat

I don't think it would be easy to land a clean hit with a bat. You have to really wind up with a bat and you also can't get off multiple swings very fast. I know if I had the knife I'm going to make several fake lunges to try and get you to swing because a swing and a miss and it would be pretty easy to get a good stab in. Also it would be pretty easy to protect yourself from a head shot. The pro with the bat is even if you don't land a head shot you can break an arm. But this is a fight to the death titanruss
Titanjuicy
If you do break the arm that is holding the knife, even if aiming at the head, game over.
Opus74
Here's a thought - cops don't carry knives. They carry bats. Actually "batons" that they can beat the shit out of you with before you can get a single stab with a knife. A bat is a great defensive weapon, a knife not so much. As in most fights, it would come down to the skills of the people involved. For most people, I think a bat would work best. A club is a pretty basic weapon whereas a knife requires more expertise to be effective. While the knife might do more actual damage, once the adrenilin starts pumping most cuts and stabs aren't going to end the fight instantly, regardless of how it looks on TV. All things being equal my moneys on the bat.
