If there is one thing that Zelda has taught me, it's that fusing a knife to a bat is the ideal solution in this specific fight

Fuck it. I've changed my vote. Knife it is.

So what's more funny is that when I brought this up it was to all the dads at a three-year-old's birthday party.  Obviously everyone had an opinion.  Then one or two of the moms came around and was li

Why would you prefer a 7 iron?

I'm thinking you have to be a lot more accurate with a 7 iron than a bat.  You've got to hit the other guy with the blade of the club or it's not doing any damage.  If you hit him with the shaft, there's potential the shaft bends and you've broken your weapon.

About 15 years ago I was downtown around 2nd avenue with a bunch of friends and some jack ass in a shitty convertible did something foul, I honestly don't remember what, and we all went chasing him down 1st avenue on foot. There was some traffic and a red light so he had to stop. 3-4 four of us get about 50 yards from his car, he leaps out reaches in his truck and takes out a baseball bat. He smiles and takes some taunting practice swings. We stop immediately and sort of put our hands in our pockets, whistle and shuffle away.

One of our friends kept running to confront the dude like the dumbest person you can imagine and caught one of those swings. It grazed the side of his head. Split his head open. I took him to Centennial after a blaze session and he received 22 staples for his trouble.

We give that guy shit about that to this day. If only he had a knife!

is that the guy you shot with a shotgun blank?

Don't know if this has been mentioned but I was talking to a friend of mine who use to train Army guys' self defense courses. He made a good point in that he said they straight up told their guys that in a knife fight, you're going to get stabbed. So they train them how to manipulate the weapon so that you get stabbed somewhere that's not vital.

So if it's a bat vs knife fight. You get stabbed and he loses his hold on the knife b/c of it. Then you shake him off and it's a bat vs unarmed.

How are you going to keep holding onto the bat while you manipulate his knife and shake him off?  In all likelihood, you aren't holding onto the bat.

dodge just enough so it sticks your shoulder then push him off w/ a body shove and hit him w/ the bat?

Good luck with that.  I'm thinking having a knife in my shoulder is going to affect my ability to swing the bat.

I think most of you have an over-inflated sense of what you can do in a physical confrontation period.

I agree.  I think most watch too many movies, etc. and believe that's how this fight would go down.

I'll just catch the bat under my arm or just stab me in the shoulder and then i'll beat you is pure nonsense for the 99.9% of people who aren't trained specialized fighters with lots of combat experience.

This fight is a one hit fight.  The first one to connect with their weapon wins.

a knife takes little expertise.

here's pretty much all of it:

1. dont drop the knife.

2. dont stop stabbing/slashing.

if you get in close the bat is completely ineffective. both can play the keepaway game but one false move with a bat and your opponnent can get 2-3 stabs/slashes in before you even feel how deep the cuts are.

you can choke up on the bat and give more short, quick hits pretty easily. There's all sorts of maneuvers.

Affect it? Sure. But even then... you still have the bat. They don't still have the knife.

You MIGHT still have the bat if you haven't dropped in pain or after the guy punched you after sticking the knife into your arm.  Even then, how effective are you going to be swinging it at the guy when he's probably tackling you or throwing punches at a close distance?
