Code, Belichick had a GREAT resume as a successful DC before he bombed in Cleveland. I don't think God could have turned Cleveland around they were so horrible. Sometimes it's the front office that good coaches can't overcome. That said there's times when the players are in place and all the coaches mix well and the personalities and chemicals mix just right and teams will get on a good roll. I hope that's the case here but initially that is not my gut level reaction on the hire.

Anyone who doesn't understand this is a massive upgrade to Munch isn't paying attention.

So about 80% of the forum was happy with the hiring of Whisenhunt...and the guy was a total disaster. Interestingly enough, roughly the same percentage of fans are unhappy with the Mularkey hire.

I think it's a great hire.

Why do you guys think he chose titans over lions?

It's warmer here?  doesn't snow much,  liked Webster,  gets more money and years?  uh, that's all I can think of.   It surely isn't that he actually thinks he's getting  a much better team.  So I go with climate.

John McClain was just on 104.5 speculating how Webster must be commended (and he'd love to hear the full story) of landing him given he'd heard it was all but a done deal he was going to Detroit.  Said we must have done a phenomenal pitch and he was a much bigger priority than most people realized.

I think people are going to feel better if they forget about Jake Locker being shoved down Whinsenhunt's throat. If that was the case, I seriously doubt he would have even wasted an interview with the Titans during a playoff week. He's won with Warner and is coaching a stud in Rivers. He knows what caliber player it will take to win in the league. Coach W has been to the SB and he has a plan to get back to win it. He's not coming here to just make a lot of fans happy with marginal results.

Maybe he will be able to succeed in Nashville, maybe not. I think what he sees here is a team with some very good pieces that needs a QB and a couple of LBs if he is going to a 3/4. A running back(two) can be added, depending on how he feels about Greene. The biggie is going to be the QB. We can compete with an average QB, but to win big they have to get/groom a top playmaker.

I hope coach W can get the Titans to be competitive right away. Again, I am happy with the hire.

Wow, just found out about the hire. All I can really say is how indifferent I am towards this signing. But hopefully between who he hires as his coordinators, the draft and free agency my feelings will change. But I will say if we truly are switching to a 3-4, I am pretty positive about that.

Terrible news because had they hired Caldwell we could have gotten rid of CMJ once and for all.

Believe it or not, I had begun to consider how to word my farewell letter.
