Titans extended most of Callahan’s staff in the summer…
ctm replied to ChesterCopperpot1's topic in Titans and NFL Talk
Wgaf whether AAS spent some of her personal funds on staff contract extensions? And btw, Freeze, telll us how long the extension were for or whether they were standard 1 year extension like other teams do when coaches are entering a contract year. Do some serious reporting. -
He's certainly in danger but at the same time the free agent market could be totally bare. I think it's possible although not a certainty

They are not going to pay him a $20 million salary next season if his inconsistent play and injury shortened season continues this year. -
You realize his cap number goes down next year? It will depend on what they do in free agency and the draft but I do think it's possible he returns for one more year

He is going to need to have a very good run of games after the bye for that to happen. -

I guess we can mark freeze off the short list of good reporters in titans media. He's clearly butt hurt his buddy and source in callahan got fired a few weeks ago -

Not sure why you thought I was stating my opinion Carrie’s more weight. I was just stating that I liked the navy look. -

Schefter: McCreary to Rams for pick swap
titanruss replied to titanruss's topic in Titans and NFL Talk
More picks early rounds. Chase guys later. seems like a solid strategy unless you are in the business of having giant rookie classes and a battle royale for roster spots. feels like a waste to have late picks. but regardless, I'd love to see the receipts for 2-6s vs a high 5th. I bet it's like 5-7% advantaged or something not entirely negligible. -

CreepingDeath replied to AvgJoe's topic in Titans and NFL Talk
I know you're just stating your opinion. How you worded it makes it sound like your opinion carries more weight, though. Here's the reason for the switch to light blue as a primary: Houston as a city trying to stake a claim to it. The Titans org sued the Houston University using the Oilers colors/pattern. The Texans are trying to implement "Houston Blue" in their alternate uniforms. One argument is that "...the Titans aren't using the color anyways." So the Titans are making it the primary color and will most likely use it as the primary color for the new uniforms coming out. -

Former 2nd round pick given up for a half eaten krispy kreme donut and it continues the trend of picks swaps being the preferred trade parameters. Also likely rules out the 49ers now being interested in Arden Key. -
I agree with you. Not smart on his part. But that wasn't the point. I don't think EG belongs on an NFL coaching staff. HOWEVER I think he had a good chance to convince AAS that he should be a part of the rebuild. Odds were +500 16.7% to become the next Titans HC two weeks ago. That's how fucking retarded she is. And he made the choice to guarantee that never happens.

Eddie never had a chance at the Titans HC job. He's a .500 coach at a low college level with very limited experience. His comment about setting the team back a decade is a clear tell on his football intelligence. Teams change quickly in the NFL, especially when they have a QB. His comment isn't the gospel. It's the opposite....stupid. -

IsntLifeFunny replied to titanruss's topic in Titans and NFL Talk
It took me a half second to see the reasoning, but it's undeniable. The cost to move up is picks. 60 places into the 5th round is for all intents and purposes an extra pick. -
She's in over head just like the people she's hiring. That's why everything is reactive. She's not able to plan ahead or predict things because she doesn't know what she's doing. So - yeah. She makes decisive moves WHEN ITS OBVIOUS. If a Twitter poll could run your team, wtf are you doing? When you got Eddie George (ring of honor/retired #) murdering any chance of him being offered a coaching job - saying you set the org back a decade - it's time to sell the fuckin team. Or turn in your keys to one of the other 4? family members.
-
If you think that Borgonzi made a bad deal or got fleeced, then you also have to believe either he didn't take the best deal other teams had to offer or that the Jets were the only team he contacted. The league knew what Brownlee was and that's why we only got a late round pick swap. That's what pro scouting departments do and Borgonzi isn't stupid.

AussieTitanFan08 replied to titanruss's topic in Titans and NFL Talk
No one is arguing that 6-7 round picks have a similar hit rate than 4th round picks that's insane. Its about the total crapshoot nature of the late rounds and having more swings in the hope of actually hitting on one. -

its more about quality vs quantity. Don't tell @AussieTitanFan08 and @TheBukafax though. They'd rather have more bites at the apple no matter what. -

I promise you DeCosta subscribes to the same philosophy Brinker and Borgonzi do. Its about top 100 picks above all else. Look around the league, the bulk of NFL starters and contributors are taken in the first 3 rounds. Good PFF article on this subject. The graph says it all. The drop off around 100 is noticeable https://www.pff.com/news/draft-what-historical-hit-rates-reveal-about-positional-success random reddit thread has old data but also supports the findings above 247sports article. Human element here but the trend lines are supported by other data sets. https://247sports.com/nfl/cleveland-browns/board/105323/contents/odds-of-becoming-a-quality-player-in-the-nfl-by-draft-round-211678773/ -

Are we really arguing that earlier picks are better and lead to more draft hits? - Today
-
Brownlee has been targeted 15 times and given up 12 completions the past two games. This idea he's been a lock down CB since joining the jets is more Titans media nonsense.
-
Yes but the argument now is that late day 3 picks have an equal chance of hitting as opposed earlier day 3 picks which is not true at all. Even the rams who hit on day 3 picks don’t do that much w/6th and 7th rounders
