But you can see by his highlights that a high % of his catches were deep throws against defenses which either didn't bother covering him or had some shitty CB who was flat-footed or stumbling around and let him run by. This is almost never going to happen in the NFL, especially as a WR1. Teams will have their best CB up his ass, while having safety help if needed. You see far fewer breaking/comeback routes where he demonstrates the ability to separate vs defenders. Maybe he's great at it, but I've seen enough times where CBs have been glued to him while making a concerted effort to stop him that I'm unconvinced (look at the play around 30 seconds where the CB quickly erases all separation ) nah i agree with you. just stating what they have listed for is separation stats. Ridley is another comp I've seen for him but Ridley can stop on a dime and i dont think Tate is capable of that. One of the negatives was his ability to get low in hard breaks. You are making shit up based off the fact he is the same size as some random nfl players. All of his actual comps are good-very good. The other links you posted yourself compared him to a bunch of top 20wrs including the best wr in the league last year. At least they gave him the same grade as JSN(as a prospect), which takes into account everything. Nah I'm not. I'm just listing every comparison i see for each and the tier difference is clear. I even stated clearly where the comparisons came from and how they were compared. JSN was compared but he was sandwiched with QJ and another guy. JSN also plays nothing like him and is a YAC freak. I also directly stated JSN was compared so there's no hiding. But you cant ignore that Love is getting compared to Faulk and LT, Gibbs, Bijan, etc. Edited April 12 by titanruss
Popular Post titanruss
Rodriguez was the best LB in the country last year by a wide margin. He hits harder and more head on than Styles. I love Styles as a prospect, he was as good of a rusher as Reece and clearly smarter. His leadership is through the roof and his athletic profile is unmatched. ....But Rodrigez was the better player. So I dont mind taking Styles at 4 - but if we are having the positional argument battle then off ball LB is on par or lower than RB, Styles wasnt an actual better player in college than several guys behind him, and off ball LB first round hit rate is significantly worse than RB. Are you really saying you see Love and Tate as the same level in terms of prospect? I get positional value arguments, but if we put that aside.. do you see the two as equal in terms of overall athetlicism and projected nfl career? headhunter
This is a deep LB draft no need to take one in the top 5. Worst position to take in the first round btw
socaljake
Feel like round 2 is the sweet spot for off ball LB (Golday, Rodriguez, Hill Jr, etc) titanruss, and DCTitan

I do think tate is a top 10nfl wr with top 5 potential. Love is a top 5 rb with top 3 potential. Both are blue chip prospects to me. The positional value and how he matches our needs and what cam likes and needs is why I have tate as my favorite pick for us. Elite physical ability is always great to have but lets stop acting like tate is restrpo athletically. titanruss, and Pragidealist

Here's a question for you... ...if you had the choice in the 2nd of either Jacob Rodriguez or Kionte Scott, who do you choose? Me? While I think Rodriguez might be a slightly better prospect, who helps the defense (and Cam) more? I think having the law offices of Taylor, Flott, & Scott out there challenging Cam every practice may actually be a bigger boost. Iron sharpening iron and all that. I really don't think you can find more than 3-4 guys since the 80's at 6ft 210-220 with a 4.36. There's a couple bigger. A WHOLE lot smaller. Several a little bit slower... but regardless its the aggregate of total comparisons and the quality of players being compared against both athletically, style, production, and projection are not even close. I dont see how thats even an argument or one you keep wishing to pursue. There's better arguments our there for Tate over Love but trying to win on player comps is not going to get you there. Question is with the vacant RG spot and the 30 visit with Bisontis the multiple sit downs with Rutledge is Borgonzi positioning himself to find the long term fix there rather than patching it for another year with a veteran.
