But if you (Borgonzi) have a strong intuition that those will wind up being the comps when those players careers are done and they're available (Love & Lawrence) where we're drafting... who do you take? And fwiw, Trey Hendrickson was drafted in the 3rd round. Just sayin... Lets just find the 3rd round version then.. cheaper... Faulk and someone less than Hendrickson is the second option. Of course they aren't. Faulk is retired and Hendrickson signed with Baltimore. Do you get my point? None of these scenarios are realistic. We don't know what kind of careers any of these guys are going to post. The people who want Bailey compare him to Freeney because they see something in his game (e.g. spin move) they can latch onto Freeney that justifies their want for the guy. Same thing with the Love comparisons to Faulk. But the reality is the Titans spent a lot of FA money to bring the defense back up (hopefully) to respectable. The smart assumption is they're about to spent a lot of draft picks to do the same for the offense.

The point is if they expect Lawrence to be on Hendrickson's level they can't assume he'll still be there when they pick in round 2. So you take the bird in the hand (Bailey). Yeah this ain’t that hard. You go with the edge guy and find the RB later on since it’s proven that you can get great RB in round 2 and beyond. I got this great strategy Lets look at the lowest round any hall of fame player has been found. Then just trade down to that spot and get one. Brilliant! We'll have a full team of hall of famers! Yeah I never get that logic. You can literally name any position and there were guys found well after round 1. OILERMAN
The top pass rushers are way more often earlier picks vs the top RBs. Mylers, Garrett, Brian Burns, Hutchison, Parsons, Will Anderson, Jeffery Simmons... All 1st rounders and among the leading sackers. Many of these guys were top 3 picks. The best RBs are usually late 1st rounders, 2nd rounders etc.... It's rare for RB to get drafted early like Barkley and Robinson TitansFan23, rns90, and Callidus 1
TitansFan23
We still have Simmons. We let Henry go. A top defender is worth more than a RB. OILERMAN

SleepingTitan
I don't see Freeney when I watch Bailey at all. I guess all it takes for clickbait these days is one spin move and now a guy is a HOFer Callidus

The fact he looks stiff to the point of robotic may not end up meaning anything but till i see it in the nfl I will have my questions.

RB probably has the most or one of the most above average level guys that you can find outside of round 1 on offense. I know you’re not finding a qb or LT with regularity.
