Gonna be hard for them to not just slot him into a starting role next year.

I bet they'll re-sign Baker too, even as depth or to fight off a higher round rookie challenger

If Baker wants to come back cheap as depth I’m all for it. They aren’t going to offer him starter money.

They need to look for a real starting-caliber CB across from Harris (who I’m currently penciling in as a starter next year).

No.  Find someone else.  He gives up catches like crazy.

Not sure how realistic it is to find a better veteran option for CB4 who can play outside. Baker will at least play STs whereas some older veteran who could be arguably better on defense probably wouldn't give you any ST snaps.

No doubt they'll sign a high end veteran corner in FA and then draft one as well. Hopefully Harris can start at nickel.

If you’re signing him for ST purposes fine, but he needs to be nowhere near the starting mix at CB.

You think Harris will play outside primarily?

I’ll answer his one.  I think they bring in multiple guys and have them in competition and that’ll sort it itself out.

Either way we are looking at two new starters and Harris will start somewhere , either at nickel or outside

I think they will pay 1 veteran starter and then let guys (Harris, veteran backups, rookies, whoever) compete opposite him.

McCaffrey is amazing. Wonder if he’ll finish top 5 all time in all purpose yards for a RB. Surely he’ll finish #1 in receiving yards and receptions.

according to chat gpt...

1097 in 1958 is the record by Del Shofner - 12 games.  (He also had 3 more years of ~1150 but may have been at a different position) 91.4 ypg.

1048 in 1999 by Faulk - 16 games - 65.5 ypg

CMac is headed towards 62  ypg now... which would put him barely ahead of fulk for a total season but not the position record.. and he also is doing it over more games.

He already holds the record for receptions by a RB with 119

Yeah I looked it up. He’ll be third all time in receptions by the end of the year and probably break the all time receiving yards record in the next 2-3 years.

He’s not even close in terms of all time scrimmage yards. Henry might have a better chance at that one.

He has done well in that role as of late, as well as in camp.

And if they play him there next year and he bombs they can always move him back to nickel.

I thought he could be an outside cb. No doubt he was a bit better in the slot but he has performed admirably on the outside so id give him a chance as well.
