Why hire Brinker and give him total control over football decisions if you're going to meddle and make decisions like this.    She's just like her dad if this story is true and there is litt

It's 1 of 32. It is going to attract a quality candidate. The bears fired Matt Eberflus midseason and hired Ben Johnson.    This whole notion of "no one is going to want the job" is bullshit

One part of the process that was missing is making sure you ask rules of the game questions to never been a HC before candidates.  I surely thought during the interview process that the candidate would be put through several in-game scenarios to evaluate their game management process and decisions.  I’m not so sure they did that with Callahan though.  Seems like such an obvious part of a HC interview.

It's likely assumed anyone making to the point Callahan did they would know basic rules like what constitutes a catch and what is offsides.

I agree this is what happened and at the time they were trying to get BC to choose them, not the other way around.  They didn’t want to “disrespect” him by asking those type of basic rules questions.  Would be nice though to find a professional way to evaluate that kind of thing without the candidate feeling talked down to.

As an engineering leader, if someone chose to focus on basic technical questions in an interview, I'd laugh and immediately take them off my list. Sure its crazy Callahan didn't know some basic rules but you don't over compensate for that by asking entry level questions of the next guy.
