Young Republicans Racist, Unhinged Chat Leaked

On the one hand, it's unsurprising. On the other hand, there's some wildly unhinged stuff in here and it's a dark profile even if you expected some bad stuff.

Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked, but they kept typing anyway.

 

They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

 

William Hendrix, the Kansas Young Republicans’ vice chair, used the words “n--ga” and “n--guh,” variations of a racial slur, more than a dozen times in the chat. Bobby Walker, the vice chair of the New York State Young Republicans at the time, referred to rape as “epic.” Peter Giunta, who at the time was chair of the same organization, wrote in a message sent in June that “everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber.”

 

Giunta was referring to an upcoming vote on whether he should become chairman of the Young Republican National Federation, the GOP’s 15,000-member political organization for Republicans between 18 and 40 years old.

 

“Im going to create some of the greatest physiological torture methods known to man. We only want true believers,” he continued.

 

Two members of the chat responded.

 

“Can we fix the showers? Gas chambers don’t fit the Hitler aesthetic,” Joe Maligno, who previously identified himself as the general counsel for the New York State Young Republicans, wrote back.

 

“I’m ready to watch people burn now,” Annie Kaykaty, New York’s national committeewoman, said.

 

The exchange is part of a trove of Telegram chats — obtained by POLITICO and spanning more than seven months of messages among Young Republican leaders in New York, Kansas, Arizona and Vermont. The chat offers an unfiltered look at how a new generation of GOP activists talk when they think no one is listening.

There’s nothing illegal about what they’re doing.   Nobody has suggested they should be arrested, jailed, or thrown out of the country for their speech.  In no way is this a free speech issue.  
 

But we’re talking about young people who  are actively campaigning and positioning themselves to become future leaders in conservative political circles.   
 

 If these would-be leaders are expressing bigoted viewpoints, making Nazi-esque statements and spouting hateful racist rhetoric….then they absolutely deserve to have their views and beliefs exposed to public scrutiny.   
 

Americans deserve to know who they’re voting for as leaders and what they believe in.

For the record, I've had to gently reprimand my previous youth center kids (volunteer youth day care) and church kids from saying stupid shit all the time.  And yes, Asian, Latino, and black kids regularly say racist shit as well.  Mostly joking but like they say it wouldn't be funny if there wasn't some truth to it. 

 

It's shockingly unsurprising that you still don't understand what free speech means.

As this point, I’m convinced you can’t be both a Republican and a good person. You literally have to be full of hate for people who aren’t like you.
 

I guess maybe a Never Trump Republican maybe could be a good person, but even then it’s hard to see where there’s a moral route to more tax cuts for the rich, deregulating big business, cutting welfare funding, demonizing LGBTs, etc.

Based on the reports he's since been released. How about the you guys stop calling law enforcement Nazis, and stop producing noise pollution.  I'm pretty sure ICE would have left him alone if he didn't sing that shit full blast through a mic and amp.  

Calling someone a Nazi or a Fascist is wrong for two reasons. 

1. It dilutes the meaning of Nazi.  If everyone you disagree with is a Nazi, it renders the word meaningless.  

2. It gives an excuse for crazy, demented people to do violence on those who are inaccurately given the title of Nazi.  

If you are okay with the consequences, feel free to keep doubling down with the unhinged rhetoric.  But don't expect me to treat you with any respect because that's the type of irresponsible shit that gets good people killed.  See. I do stand for free speech. 

 

Yes, its called intimidation. They had no legal authority to detain him. THAT'S a violation of his rights to free speech.

If ICE did something illegal, take them to court.  I'm not the ICE director.  Nor do I know immigration law or law enforcement protocol.  I'm not that interested in this subject to be honest.  I have inherited tenants who are most likely illegal.  I don't intend to call ICE on them and I really don't care if they are here illegally.  Only reason for action is if they do criminal activity or if they disrupt the other tenants/neighbors.  

I don't intend to be a Karen and I am pretty libertarian when it comes to my private life.  I tend to live and let live.  But I also know that open borders is not sustainable.  

ICE is merely trying to undo the failed Biden Admin catastrophe of letting 10 million illegals in.  

That's all I got to say about it.  You seem like a nice guy, man. And I got nothing against you but if you're looking for sympathy from me, I stand with the law even if it's going to cost me my business. None of my crew have been affected and they all working without fear because they don't get entangled with criminal activity.

I'll be around if you wanna chat but I'm not trying to be super active with politics right now.  It's pretty boring when the leadership is pretty much doing almost everything I voted for.
