Albert Breer has a few nuggets here about the HC search and some of the analytical studies the team is already undertaking about varying success rates of second time HC and coordinators with more than

It is becoming really annoying how some people are using bad result as an excuse to paint the last HC hiring process as a sham. Facts are Callahan was an in demand candidate during that hiring cycle e

Callahan was a great "candidate" and a terrible head coach.

I would interview him here. But he’s a northeast guy and I could see him doing really well there.

With how early the Titans HC vacancy opened up there is absolutely zero reason why they shouldn't be interviewing 15+ candidates.

They also have the advantage of being able to interview anyone who is not currently employed in the NFL (Mike McCarthy and CFB candidates) before the NFL season even ends.

Absolutely agree. Talk to everyone who will say yes to an interview. Get their perspective on the team and how to help cam get better.

Case in point: Jeff Hafley left his head coaching job at Boston College for less $$ to be DC at Green Bay.

It’s just incredibly more difficult to be a college coach because of all the recruiting and NIL stuff now.

I mostly agree with @ChesterCopperpot1 on this.

If comparing the Temple HC gig vs. Any NFL HC job, sure it's not even a competition. However, if you're comparing SEC/Big10 HC good to NFL gigs, I don't think it's a contest on who is putting in more hours a year - it's the collegiate level in those leagues.

Quality of life is always hard to quantify - different people prioritize different things. I'd compare it with audit vs. tax in public accounting. If you can sell, socialize, brown-nose and love living out of a suitcase, you're probably going to like audit. If you just want to grind 4-5 months out of year while almost always sleeping in your own bed, tax may be a better fit.

I'm not acquaintances with any of these people, but I have talked to various low level Titans, Vols, Vandy coaches through the years that have been at both levels. I don't recall any of them ever saying the Power 5 level was easier than the NFL. I do recall a couple making it very clear the opposite statement (NFL was less time) was true.

Didn't think it was much of a debate to be honest.

Right. Didn’t think I was saying anything outlandish. There’s a reason a lot of nfl head coaches live elsewhere in the offseason. That never happens in college.
