Well for anyone who cares to read this, here are my (lengthy) thoughts now that I’ve had a chance to sleep on it.   I’ll start by saying I'm not sure I've ever been more hyped for an episode

I loved the fact that Theon won his fight cause he has no dick. Haha

The biggest fail IMO, was the initial response of the foot soldiers to the combo of Dothraki and Drogon.

Faced with virtually overwhelming force and watching one's peers get burned alive would be too much for even the bravest of warriors.  Not near enough of them broke and ran after Drogon's initial torching of their brethren.

In the beginning of the attack (hastily gathered against I might add) a wide swath of their fellow soldiers are being roasted alive, and most of them are standing there watching.  That doesn't happen.  People run, hide, hit the dirt.  The courageous among them recover and regroup with renewed resolve, especially under a great leader to rally behind.

But nobody stands dumbfounded watching while their foe demolishes their ranks with fire.

The same thing happened in Mereen at the end of Season 6 when the Sons of the Harpy were laying waste to the slaves outside the gate, and the mounted Dothraki horde descended on them flailing their swords and sounding their war cries.  Thousands of them.  And that few dozen SotH stood there and watched them come.  That doesn't happen.  They'd have bolted for the gate.

I've had a few viewings now.  The episode would have been great without the battle scene.  We just got to top off a great episode with a top notch GoT battle sequence.....with a dragon!!!!

It ranks on up there for best episode.  It may just lack a Bronn death as being tops.

i keep hearing this from people. why?

I think it stems from there being the thought there must've been a spy within ranks for Cersei to have the upper hand on the "plan".  I think Varys is too obvious, and people tend towards the surprise.

I don't think it'll be the case, but I kind of get where the thought comes from.

yeah but where would the connection to cersei even start? how would cersei know she needed a spy on Dany waaaayyy back when she was brought on board?

it makes zero sense. if people are just looking for surprises, then every single person could be telling cersei whats going on.

That's what happens when there are holes in the plot line.  People try to fill them.

Eh, I never thought there was a connection to Cersei.  I'd be more inclined to believe that Euron is the connection, since he's the swashbuckling asshole who's been everywhere.  But what would the motivation be?  What could anyone hold over her head or even offer her?

They got nothing on her. Her family is done. She's got her dick less boyfriend if he ever gets captured but that's not happened yet.

I know.  While there's no apparent motive, there are still signs and just a "feeling" she's dirty.  Could be just careful planning, clever writing and good acting.....  Ok, careful planning and clever writing.

Related note:  I re-watched it last night and was reminded what a nightmare the scene where Bronn was trying to make his way to the Scorpion would have been.  It was hellish with all the smoke, the burning people, the screaming Dothraki and a friggin half mile long dragon flying overhead!

There's a single shot that's 30 seconds long where Bronn is fighting his way and hellish is the correct term.  Smoke, fire, chaos, and a dragon.  Awesome shot.

i dont think it was weak. it was a good opportunity, he had to take it. she was off and struggling and if drogon doesnt see jaimie then he could end it all right then and there. also... as you mention, it's in his character to do so. add in that he just found out who killed his son and dealing with his crazy sister/wife... it makes good sense.

Shit, I didn't even think about that. It's possible that was a kamakazi move. Not that he necessarily wanted to die but at that point, watching his army turned to ash (notice him wince and turn away in when the wind from Drogon's wings blows away the ash), who was he going to serve? The monster in King's Landing, who was getting set up to betray him with Euron, or the monster riding the flying death machine above? I recall the comment he made in the Sept right after Joffrey had died. "Why have the gods made me love a spiteful woman?"

He's one tortured mofo.

who is going to save him? tyrian sees it.. so maybe he sends help.

do we know for sure it was bronn that knocked him off the horse or could it also have been dickon?

Dickon has a short cut whereas Bronn has shaggy hair. The shot of them under water as the fire flames above shows the other guy's hair kind of waving around. Also, Bronn was eyeing a white horse after he jumped from the scorpion. So I'm pretty sure that was Bronn.

I mean, if Jaime dies how is he going to get paid? Lol

The only person in Dany's camp that would have beef enough to turn on her would be Daario Naharis after she took her poon away from him. He was more than a little butthurt (dickhurt?) by her decision to leave him in Essos.

But if he's not there in the war room with them when they're making strategy how would he know what to tell Cersei? So that idea is a real stretch of the imagination.

I don't think the idea of a spy has much ground to stand on. Of those who are there the only ones who you might legitimately suspect are Tyrion (not bloody likely) or Varys (more likely than Tyrion, but not by much).
