  1. 1. Who would you pick to replace him?

    • Jesse Minter, current Chargers DC
    • Joe Brady, current Bills OC
    • Kliff Kingsbury, current Commanders OC
    • Promote Dennard Wilson
    • Some up and coming college coach
    • Other NFL coach

Klint Kubiac is rating very highly in terms of scripted plays.  JSN has been unstoppable.  Darnold is throwing into tight coverage at the 5th lowest rate and they are #5 in PPG.

He also had high moments as a playcaller in NO, with Carr posting one of the most efficient seasons of his career and the offense averaging 25 PPG despite major talent issues.   He also threw into tight coverage at the 5th lowest rate of all QBs.

He's high on my list of candidates

Hopefully Callahan turns it around soon and it doesn’t come to that.

We fucked up when we hired Vrabel as HC over Lafleur. Imagine how different things would have been if we didnt make that mistake.

Someone that knows the general rules

What style of offense is Kubiak running?? Something close to McVey/Shannahan/ LaFleur??

AI tells me, outside zone running, run and pass look the same at the snap, less decisions by the QB with each play, and lots of short passing, play action, deep shots etc..I like that style of offense personally..

He didn't call timeouts when he had them and had he done so the Buccaneers would've had time at the end of the game with the ball.  Instead Detroit just ran out the clock.  His explanation was weird.  And with the Jets his clock management was terrible.

As many others have said, it's mostly about the talent on the roster.  You have to be really bad or really good to impact games that much.

Was that similar to Vrabel not calling the TO's against Buffalo in Nashville?  Which I think you were OK with?

No it wasn't the same.  Vrabel was doing that for a strategic purpose.  Bowles has a chance to get the ball back when trailing and for some reason just didn't call them.

What were the strategic purposes?  It worked out for Vrabel because of Simmons but...

EDIT: I guess Buffalo had to score a TD and not a FG?

I don't know.  I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.  I think he thought that the Bills expected him to call a TO, he didn't and it would fluster them.  It worked...

The Bills just needed a FG to tie.  They opted to try and win in regulation.

Curt Cignetti should seriously be considered. All he does is win and turn around football programs. An nfl team will eventually give him a shot, I have no problem with that team being the titans.

That coach who has the Indiana Hoosiers competing for NCAAF championships?  Yeah, they aren't letting that guy leave.

He's been awful in Atlanta.  And that team is absolutely loaded with offensive talent.

They really are. Great OL, Drake London is tremendous. Kyle Pitts & Bijan Robinson were the best TE & RB prospects to come out in ages. Somehow with all this talent Kirk Cousins completely fell on his face & now Penix is following suit. Now Cousins is old & maybe Penix is a bust but it isnt a good look for Zac’s resume that’s for sure……..

Did you see the end of the Tampa-Detroit playoff game?  He's as clueless with the clock as Callahan.  But his team is loaded.

They're my pick to come out of the NFC BTW.  Despite Bowles.

Tampa really is stacked. They’re completely decimated by injuries & still have a solid team. Basically their entire OL is injured including Tristan Wirfs. Chris Godwin is hurt. Mike Evans got hurt during the game. I believe Lavonte David got hurt. Calijah Kancey is hurt. They have a half dozen elite guys not playing & they still dominated the Jets who I get are bad. It was a close game score wise but TB dominated them. The Jets blocked a FG for a score after a sortve garbage time TD they had.

Also Emeka Egbuka is gonna be a superstar. The stuff about him being a slot only was totally off. Dude was making one handed grabs down the sideline, beating Sauce a few times. Total stud. And Baker is a monster.

Top to bottom I think they're the best roster in the NFL. It was the Eagles last year but they lost 8 starters on defense and are not as dominant.

You might be right. I’d say in no particular order TB, Philly, Detroit, Buffalo & Balt are clearly the top 5 rosters. I might put the Lions at the top  after that MNF performance. They’re just stacked on the lines. Penei Sewell is as destructive a run blocker as I’ve seen in a long, long time.  In fact I think I would put them in the top spot especially if Aidan Hutchinson’s knee keeps improving throughout the season & he gets closer & closer to the All-World guy he was last year.  Thank goodness Jax picked Travon Walker over him.

There’s plenty of ways to construct a great roster but Detroit’s would be my preference in an ideal world. Dominant in the trenches, big & physical all over, even in the secondary & WR (St. Brown) while sprinkling in just enough electric, big play guys like Gibbs & Jameson Williams.  They’re just so well rounded. Not overly reliant on just one aspect like an elite QB or defense. They can win doing a lot of things in any type of game.

Good point about Detroit. The lost what like 8 starters and a bunch of depth due to injury last year?

Any reason that we shouldn't just consider hiring LaFluer (Mike)? Prior Rams OCs Kevin O'Connell and Matt LaFluer have fared very well as HCs, and Coen is tbd but has at the very least been excellent in a play calling role.  I think he largely deserves a pass for his time in NY, but even that offense in 2021 managed to give Vrabel problems.
