abenjami
I thought it would be fun to have a thread where we can post crazy stats that we hear about. Here are 2 that I saw today. Lebron James is the youngest player in NBA history to score 40 points. He's also the oldest player in NBA history to score 40 points. Ashton Jeanty led the NCAA in rushing yards this season. The second most rushing yards was Ashton Jeanty after contact. SleepingTitan, and chef

Nothing about his running style seems special. Maybe he's sneaky fast or more elusive than he looks. Leveon Bell looked so unimpressive as a Steeler too but he was a stud for a couple years. BudsOilers
https://www.therams.com/news/seahawks-record-performance-by-rams-defense-stands-40-years-later Minus-seven yards. It's almost unthinkable in today's NFL, given the rapid pace at which offenses are setting new records. Yet 40 years ago, the Los Angeles Rams defense held the Seattle Seahawks offense to precisely that in a 24-0 victory on November 4, 1979 – a league record that remains unbroken to this day. This was in the Kingdome so no weather playing a factor.
OILERMAN
Tony Gwynn faced Maddux, Smoltz, Glavine, and Pedro Martinez 330 times. Those four guys struck out over 12,000 batters combined. They struck out Gwynn 3 times total. abenjami, IsntLifeFunny, and titanruss

They can identify pitches if there are different release points or if a curveball starts with an upward hump as it leaves the pitcher’s hand. But if a pitcher can change speeds, every hitter is helpless, limited by human vision. Except for that fucker Tony Gwynn." - Greg Maddux wiscotitansfan, MadMax, titanruss, and 3 others 1
CaliTitan3518
Pick any two players in the baseball hall of fame. Barry Bonds has more mvp awards than both of them combined. From 2001-2004 39.5% of all Barry Bonds at bats ended in a walk or a home run. He also reached base in 94% of his games played. If you turned every home run Bonds hit into an out his career on base % would be .384. the same as Alex Rodriguez's. In 2004 Bonds reached base safely 376 times in 373 at bats. If you stripped Bonds of all of his stats from his 7 MVP seasons, he woud still have 440 homers, 359 stolen bases which no other player has. Tony Gwynn was the second batter too. rns90
