This blows up my mock!

Stonehouse has always outkicked his coverage...he's been doing it since day one.   But on a 65-yard punt and a 10-15 yard return, you're still netting 50-55 yards...which is excellent.   It

Me.  Although oldschool may have as well.

I'm kind of surprised at the level of butthurt about letting Stonehouse go.  The punter was scheduled to make $3.2m right?  The punter that has a huge leg but couldn't directionally punt to save his life, or drop one inside the 10?  That punter?  I like the guy, but damn.  Can we let the new ST guy take the worst unit in the NFL and remake it the way he wants to?  I thought the 104.5 morning crew were going to start crying today.

Yeah, after our special teams play over the last few years I would put anything on the table.

Many Many people said this since day 1 - that he outkicked his coverage. But most of the time we were just missing tackles and I think getting rid of him is a mistake. Yeah, this past year he wasn't getting the hang-time of punts the last 2 year.... but Punters get better each year and he just came off a huge injury. I guarantee his hangtime will be up there again and since he lands in Denver, he likely sets some records.

Stoneys first 2 yeas he had a better net average than Hekker. He was also leading the league in Gross and top 3 in net... and was like 50% inside the 20 (but also like 2-3x higher touchbacls)

Unless they just think he cant kick that high again, I really dont like this move.

Yeah it’s kind of insane to right off your punter after your dumbass coach got his leg shredded by allowing back to back blocked punts. Why would we expect him to be 100% 8 months later? Watch him set an all time record this year.

It was always a problem.  He was also terrible at placing the ball deep inside opponent territory like we would see Kern do routinely.

Kern did not do that from day 1. Took him like 5 years to gert to that level and like 10 years before he was even elite. Stonehouse was WAY ahead of his pace and with a bigger leg.

Kern was pretty good when he came to the Titans in 2009.  Certainly better than Stonehouse ever was.

I disagree. His first shortened season was good when he arrived but he wasnt better than Stonehouses first 2 years. The next several seasons he wasnt as good either. IT took Kern like a decade before he was even probowl level.

Its almost like this staff just looked at Stonehouse post-injury and said "thats who he is for the rest of his career"

He wasn't that good pre injury either.  That's the problem.

Stonehouse was absolutely a better young punter than Kern. 2nd team all pro as a rookie, higher net yards by a good amount each year except the injury. Even TB and inside 20 was close.

Kern was good but not great until the last half of his career. Stoney was starting off better and with a much bigger leg.

The bigger leg part I'll give you.

You don't bring in a guy like Fassell who you want for his tenure and overrule him on something like this. You have faith in your top notch coach. I agree with some trepidation because of Stone house's leg, but this was a Bones call through and though and you just roll with it. STs coach is a different breed lol and this is a guy who could potentially finish his career here whether or not Callahan is retained.
