Are we really going to do the AJ Brown thing again and just use the draft capital received for Simmons hoping to replace him.

The far more likely outcome is this front office lets the first 6-7 weeks play out and if things are not going well the likes of Simmons, McCreary, Hooker (if he hasn't signed an extension), Key or any of the 1yr signings from this offseason SJD, Jones etc are all available ahead of the trade deadline.

We wouldn’t have been a contender even with Brown (though we didn’t know that at the time). We won’t be a contender with Simmons.

In the great scheme of things, the real problem was they wasted the draft pick on Burks.

And fuck ESPN and the NFLN you pricks can't go to a commercial before the #1 pick.

Let us old-school football guys take a moment appreciate to the fact that the Titans earned the #1 overall pick the old-fashioned way.   Not by tanking or by trading up, but by simply being

I'd hate Hunter. The Titans best position is likely CB and you don't take a WR that high. If the Titans traded down to 3 and Carter went 2 I'd rather trade down again and maybe go for someone like Mem

Simmons will be 28y/o this season and should have plenty of good years left.

In effect if you are saying this team won't be a contender with Simmons you are saying this team is going to be bad for the majority of Cam Ward's rookie deal.

I’m saying he’s no longer going to be in his prime by the time the team might be able to compete. He’s also going to be a potential free agent in about the timeframe where they might optimistically be a contender again.

So say Borgonzi is able to get a 2nd round pick for Simmons what are the odds you can get someone in the 2nd round that comes close to replicating his play both his run stuffing ability and collapsing the pocket.

This team doesn't have a salary cap issue so saving the cap space from his contract doesn't really help them this year or in 2026 where they will have between $95-120 million in effective cap room depending on what they do with Ridley/Sneed after this year, we saw this offseason with the Patriots there is a point where you can have too much cap space with not enough good players to spend it on.

I just don't see the point right now doing a like for like swap for Simmons and a rookie using the exact same draft capital you generated from trading him. All you might be achieving is making the team worse in the short term when you need to be doing everything both offensively and defensively to help a rookie QB find his feet in the NFL.

The picture could be vastly different 8 weeks into the season if this team outright sucks and Simmons wants out but I just don't see them trading away one of their best defensive players right now.

You cant just trade away talent because you aren't sure when you will be good again. I can assure you that you will never be good if that is your plan.

This is a really strange argument from one of the pro Ward guys.  If you think he’ll be a franchise guy .  That means the rebuild will be shorter than expected and that Simmons should still be in his prime when we will be a contender again.

A swing and a miss sir. Simmons hasn’t been fully healthy for years. Saying he’s in his prime or even suggesting he has 3 good years left is laughable

What if you could get the Patriots to come off 38 and 69 or 77 for Simmons?

Why would they do that after giving Milton Williams a 4yr $104 million contract.

Sure he has been banged up but he gets himself out on the field the vast majority of the time he has recorded more snaps than Chris Jones in 4 of the last 5 seasons.

And no I'm not saying Simmons is better than Jones.
