Schefter reporting AAS is not happy and people inside that Titans building are bracing for something to happen

Its funny how everyone assumes Brinker wants to be a GM. He has a president of football ops title now that puts him on par with others that hold that title around the league. I think the more likely scenario if AAS fires Carthon is that the team starts a GM search to replace him.

Moving Brinker over for a year keeps the possibility of firing him and Callahan if the shit show continues next year.  If they bring in a new GM and force Cally on him, we are right back to square one.

I personally think Cally deserves one more year to right the ship, and I also don't think a HC should be forced on a GM.

It’s been pretty obvious Carthon is in danger.    and he should be fired

The bottom line is it seems pretty obvious Carthon is a total moron. I think it was exposed more after Vrabel was fired and Carthon had more control

Waiting for the report stating Carthon's pitch to save his job involves showing AAS texts from his buddies around the league saying what a good job he has been doing.

Honestly it will be tone deaf if they don't have some sort of statement even if it's status quo and apologizing for the shit show.

The front office speaking post the season is actually one of the NFL's mandated media requirements from the team so if Carthon ends up being safe he and Brinker or he and Anthony Robinson would have a presser later this week.

So we wasted probably the most pivotal offseason we've had in some time on lame ducks?

You guys think it's funny that Brinker is accompanying Carthon on personnel related visits and meetings but on the same coin say he's not a part of any of the personnel acquisition process. Got to all of it or none of it.

Brinker does player scouting

No, that isn't what anyone is saying. What they are saying is

1) New GMs don't want a coach forced on them

2) Callahan wouldn't be forced on Brinker

3) Someone has to answer for this year's personnel, which is Carthon

Now, you can get rid of all this bullshit by just firing everyone. That is the right move. If you don't fire Callahan then no GM worthy of the spot will come into the role with Callahan and his staff being forced on him.

It's just a poor setup all around if they go that route.

New GM reports to Brinker who reports to AAS. The GM is given control over what in that scenario? He gets personnel and that is it. Tell me a GM who would come in under that scenario?

sigh... it really isn't. Its very common to have a GM and a President of Football Ops reporting to the owner. I don't know why you and others refuse to realize the setup is normal.

whats his track record? I don't listen to local Nashville sports radio.

Spotty. He’s been calling for Carthon to be fired since he was hired. Plus, don’t forget he was source of the Rodgers is coming to the titans because he found out he purchased some land here.

You're for real starting to get more than annoying with this shit.

I guarantee you there would be no setup resembling this organization if they were to keep Brinker and have him hire a GM while keeping Callahan.

You don't know shit. you are simply projecting because you are an emotional fan who wants blood. There is a very real scenario where Brinker leads the effort to hire a new GM into the current org structure.

Btw, here is another org with the same setup to follow the Rams and Browns. This is how teams are starting to do things and for good reason. The job of a GM who oversees everything has gotten too big.

Problem is if Callahan is on a one year prove it do you want the young QB bounced from a system after his rookie year. Best to just clean house and have the new coach focused on the QB for 3 years.

I'm sure those teams had a setup where the President was kept on after firing the GM that hired them in the first place, ending up with a GM who had zero control over the coaching staff and was left specifically with personnel and personnel only.

As I've said, the way you're framing this is outlandish.

Yep. The idea this is an emotional take instead of logical is an interesting one. The current FO setup has given us the worst results in the league. To move on from that situation means either firing Callahan and staff or forcing them on a new GM. The middle ground is keeping Brinker who was on for the Callahan hire. The other option is to keep the entire setup intact.

Out of those options what is the cleanest setup to starting a successful run for the organization?
