Russia gate was a hoox. More to come from New FBI Director Kash Patel.

And I think Starkiller mentioned that the vaccine stopped the original strain of covid but it morphed.

Maddow said the vaccine "will end it."  Look, I don't expect her to know everything about a Virus that was new to the world.  So I'm trying to be fair. Trump said stuff he wasn't sure about when he did his press briefings during the pandemic. But he was pretty open minded with the potential solutions. Many people were wrong about the solution. But it would be nice to hear from your side that you guys didn't know everything that there was to know about the Virus either. Now covid is just a part of our lives whether we like it or not and it has not stopped like Maddow suggested.

And if the vaccine only stops the one strain from infecting and being transmitted to another person before it mutates, then for all practical intents and purposes, it's a useless feature because this virus does inevitably mutate into different strains in perpetuity.

People who were vaccinated were 9 times less likely to be hospitalzed and those that were vaccinated and hospitalized had far greater survival rates than those weren't. Those facts are irrefutable. It's impossilbe to put a number on how many lives it saved. And you're a fucking idiot if you're not intelligent enough to be aware that boosters were developed to better protiect from the different mutations. Look up Phil Valentine, an arch conservative anti vaxxer radio host who died from Covid and seee what he and his family said about it on his deeathbed.

@Justafan Since you liked this.....

I watched this entire video. You obviously didn't watch it and liked a video posted by, none other than, dan.

First of all they openly mock her for being gay and are homophobic and refer to her as "Madcow"

The two blatant lies allegedly by Maddow were Russia tried to help Trump in the election. That's a fact they did. The other was whether the vaccine helped limit/stop the spreading of the Virus. It did.

They move on to say Tucker Carlson was fired for telling the truth. He 100% was fired for lying and when he was sued his lawyer argued his audience knew he was lying. Fox paid 1 bill in a liability case.

And lastly and the best is they tip their hat to Joe Rogan for saying Seth Rich was murdered for leaking the Hillary E-mails, which is a right wing conspiracy that was totally debunked.

L-O-Fucking -L:

The Fox News Channel has reached a private settlement with the parents of the slain Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich. The network had baselessly reported in May 2017 that Rich leaked thousands of Democratic party emails to Wikileaks during the height of the 2016 presidential campaign.

The story, reported by Fox News' Malia Zimmerman and retracted seven days later, also suggested without any evidence that Democrats might have been linked to the killing of the 27-year-old Rich

@Justafan I'd seriously like to know what you "liked" about this video.

There are no legit comparisons between Rogan/Fox and Maddow.

In the first 30 seconds she talks about the cost to them as a “news” organization of knowingly broadcasting untrue things.

The fact that you guys are so adamantly defending her and then pretending like that’s not your world view is kinda laughable. Sorry, it’s just true.

You can latch on to the crazy bs if you want to and try to discredit what I said through what others posted but this is the same people who gaslighted people into believing Biden was fine, that Kamala was the most popular candidate in history, and that the border was secure.

If you can’t see it, it’s because you don’t want to.

Was going to respond to this then realized it set off a million replies.  But yes, seriously doubt it.

Sure I bet some love her as cheering for their team, but in reality, I bet many on this "team" are closer to me: not really Dem cheerleaders, and don't like being sold to... which is just about all I see in the brief moments MSNBC pops up on a YT thing or something.  I do not have cable tv, do not watch standard news programming.  Which again I bet is more the norm, particularly for the non-Fox crowd.

The one thing Fox has said which isn't a lie: they more or less kicked the ass of the other stations on news rating.  In part to to fragmented market sure.  But we all saw MSNBC trying to position themselves as a counterpoint and therefore it wasn't just news, it was news for a market segment.  CNN has been wringing its hands for years: trying to show they are not biased, then hiring talking heads more like MSNBC.  I think now it's just for BS sponsored online ads that look like stoires. Sad.  At one point during Bernard Shaw years they were actually pretty great.

So again I doubt that very many here consistently tune into her or even similar.  And no way at all to comp her to Rogan.  First of all, he's way more likeable. :)

Regardless of his intelligence on matters, he knows enough to know what sells, so he pushes that.  Which in turn ends up pushing conspiracy narratives and the like. He sure didn't invent the concept but he has built a podcast empire on it.   Not sure what to do about that.  He's only a small part of greater issues that are not limited to his listeners.

Because yes people are getting dumber (ie kids test scores have been dropping).  But more than that, they have less and less attention span, and too many things to pay attention to.  Makes everyone easier to manipulate, and it's not always done maliciously.  Just what we've become.

I still rec to anyone to read foreign news reports on the US whenever you can.  BBC ain't what it used to be but it's not the worst. Al-Jazeera is better than most would think as long as the middle east/Muslims aren't the topic (forget fair and balanced then).

But these days younger kids can barely make it through a serious 2 hour movie.  And I bet if watching at home (or heck at theater too) - if they have a phone - 90%+ would never make it through without shifting back and forth from the "big" screen to the small one.  This all goes way deeper than just politics.

I’ll give you that Rogan was an exaggerated comparison but one I thought people would understand was given to make a point and not taken so literally. I forget where I am sometimes.

Maddow frequently and intentionally misleads her audience. Rogan is reckless with misinformation but is a long-form podcaster who's skeptical of the system, not a pseudo-journalist working off a prewritten script who cherry-picks facts and uses her intelligence to manipulate her audience and construct a progressive narrative around every news cycle.

Right…

I haven’t watched Rogan ever outside of clips of guests that talk about exercise physiology which was actually really friggin good and clips that other people have posted for me to watch. If you get your political news from Maddow or Rogan, you’re in a thought bubble. Period. I prefer investigative journalism with a bent towards libertarian ideals - guys like Glenn Grenwald, Jason Leopold, and Gabriel Gatehouse. They have their warts but they are actual fact based journalists unlike entertainment journalists such as Maddow.

I’ll admit that I also listen to guys like John Stossell but I’m fully aware of his bias and take the things he posts with a big grain of salt.

Getting so defensive about it just tells me that people aren’t aware of it… or are but are so ideologically driven that they go out of their way to justify it. The fact that people wrote PAGES to discredit any comparison of Maddow to thought bubbles on the right says a lot in my opinion. I’m sure you will draw your own conclusions.

The difference between "thou dost protest too much" and being repeatedly told in no uncertain terms by multiple people in being ways that you're just wrong is perhaps harder to identify than it seems it should be ... but it's an important difference.

Lie: "Vaccine stops virus with every vaccinated person. Virus can't infect them."

She literally says that her news org knowingly broadcasts untrue things.

'These results indicate that vaccination had reduced the probability of shedding infectious virus after 5 days from symptom onset.' https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9499220/ While saying it stopped amognst vaccinated may have been overstating things, there's definitely scientific evidence that vaccinated were considerably less likely to shed contaigous viral loads than unvaccintated after the first 4 or 5 days.

Obviously, you clarified and were willing to have an honest conversation which would have ended the conversation right there. Others dove down the rabbit hole and became extremely defensive. You are right, there is an important difference.

You can latch on to the crazy bs if you want to

The things they accused her of lying about were true things she said.

You "liked" the crazy bs video. Dems killed Seth Rich, which they and Joe Rogan said. You latched on to that.

Of course I liked the video. I was fending off the mob, as usual, and it was the only post pushing back. The only one. EVERYONE else ran to the defense of Maddow and the accusation that people are not any better informed for watching her content than they are watching Joe Rogan.

It didn't mean that I endorse or agree with everything in the videos (especially conspiracy theories) and honestly, I clicked on it and expected it to be a run down of the way she frames conversations to influence her audience, not whatever it turned into. I was not at home and posting from my phone, so... you got me... I didn't watch most of the video (s) nor will I. That doesn't change my view of her or the people who watch her content or really anything I said.

Lol. Calling out entertainment journalism is not unhinged, ridiculous, or nonsense. People seriously rely on this stuff to form their world views - very clearly people in this forum - even if not specifically Maddow, others in the same sphere with very much the same intentions and methods.

You're still defending the video, go watch it all.

You're right people do rely on stuff like that video, dan and some others for sure.
