 That didn't work last week.  Trump threaten to primary Chip Roy.  Not only did he vote against the budget bills after Trump's threaten him, but over 30 other republican congressmen joined him.

Will be fun to watch these MAGA reps do the math as they end up between a [dumb as a] rock (Trump) and a [needs blue pill to get] hard place (MAGA voters).  

 

Should they start to see that - like a crowd of a thousand doing the math vs two dozen guards - in unity against Trump they will survive with their voters.  Especially if they peg it as anti-Musk and similar rather than anti-Trump.

Johnson can't lose a single other vote and be elected speaker next Friday, Jan 3rd.  One representative (T. Massie) has already announced publically against him.  That puts him at 218 out of 434.  One more lost vote and he doesn't have an absolute majority and isn't elected.

 

If republicans don't elect a speaker by Jan. 6th, then they can't certify Trump's electoral votes on that day.  They could do it later, but have to do it by the 20th.
