Popular Post BudsOilers
Robinson's failings were when he didn't have the #1 pick and tons of cap space and a lousy roster. He was able to rebuild quickly due to the value of trading the #1 pick and turning into multiple players and he didn't have any FA's he needed to worry about extending for a while. Tons of GM's would have succeeded in that scenario when you seemingly have your long term QB and a LT and some key vets like Casey and Walker. As time went on and the job became infinitely harder - picking lower and having to make decisions on who to keep and who to let walk - he sucked. He blew a ton of picks, never came close to replacing any good players he opted not to re-sign, blew 40 M on Beasley and Clowney, and made some horrific cap management and trades (Julio, AJB). Now certainly Vrabel was involved in a lot of these but they also were famously aligned aside from the AJB trade. Bottom line is that if you state publicly that winning playoff games isn't good enough (when he fired Mularkey) and then proceed to win playoff games in one season after that and oversaw the roster go from good to bad, well adios buddy. 2023 and to a lesser extent 2024 reek of his shitty work from 2020-2022 where the blew picks recklessly, made horrific veteran acquisitions, and traded away future draft capital to boot. Fuck him and anyone dumb enough to defend it. IsntLifeFunny, ctm, japan, and 2 others 4
Number9
Back to TNF and the bottom of the sports page. Everyone in the football world was recognizing the Titans as a top team. Nationally a lot of new people started rooted for the Titans. Titans gaining national fans? Gee Doggie! But somewhere there was a tiny group of fans(lmao) explaining the HC was a meathead, the star RB was a bum and giggled while calling the GM-Quevar Chummy. Well, we got the No. 1 pick. Meathead would have never got us that!

It's by far the dumbest thing JR did. Some of the draft stuff is bad luck and even the AJB trade looks worse now that at the time but that trade was as stupid as it gets. The Falcons were boxed in and desperate. They fleeced Robinson Justafan, BudsOilers, IsntLifeFunny, and 1 other

And imo inexcusable chasing him on the heels of all those known injury acquisitions

OILERMAN
Dupree was overpaid but pass rushers get overpaid. I don't consider that so terrible... When you have no pass rush you have to try and get guys like Dupree, Clowney etc.... IsntLifeFunny
OILERMAN
Hitting on Simmons was a lot like the running game in the 2019 postseason for Vrabel. It gave Robinson some confidence that it was some kind of cheat code for getting better value. After that it failed miserably, just like the running game in the postseason after the 2019 Ravens game Justafan, and japan 1

I remember everyone was excited about the news until it came out we paid a 2nd and 4th AND the entire contract. I still have absolutely zero idea what the hell he was thinking. He got a broken down Julio and paid his contract then traded a prime All Pro because of money and only got one round up the exact same deal? If anyone hires him again I'm going to laugh for a good long minute.

He just thought he could keep replacing players. You can't do that without a guy like Brady who covers so many holes. He also completely whiffed 3 straight times on guys who were soft, injured, both, or didn't love football and all of the above. Really historical run of ineptitude. It's a common mistake, they got close in 2019 and tried to find the final piece. That never works out. Every season you start over from the start. Brady and Belichich have talked about this numerous times. IsntLifeFunny, Justafan, smokeater, and 1 other

Brady and Belichich have talked about this numerous times. The trade wasn't even that terrible in principle, as you noted when they were healthy the offense was right at the tops in the league. The cost though was stupid as all hell. He really fucked the cap up by then retructuring Tannehill 's contract to get Julio in, leading to AJ being traded because we couldn't afford the franchise tag the next year when Tanne's contract couldn't be touched because of the one year rule. The whole thing is nuts. OILERMAN, and Justafan
