What the Titans did at WR this offseason speak way louder about what they think about Burks vs words

I'd guess the current Titans staff would have never drafted Burks with their analytical approach.    QC and Meathead simply saw a big WR who could run fast

Running 22 MPH doesn't really mean a lot. Short area quickness and the ability to create separation are way more important for a WR. It's what Ridley is so good at. Burks is a long strider who can run

I know. I still say he was tadeable before he went on IR. Fucker couldn't even stay healthy in practice lol.

Nothing more annoying than a guy who had no significant injury history in college and then becomes tissue paper in the NFL. The mofo played in 32 games in college. Like motherfucker have the decency of showing us you're injury prone before we spend a 1st round pick on your ass.

Well we did also draft Caleb Farley.

Burks has been a major disappointment but let's not pretend these injuries have been legit.  Some is just bad luck.

I’m always beating down on him but in his defense, getting that first concussion really did a number on him. He did the fencing motion that time and then knocked himself out going for a ball a whole year later. Idk if he fully recovered from that as far as playing fearlessly.

Kid did take a ton of shit for concussing himself after about as valiant a stretch out as you’ll see trying to corral a Levis moonshot on 4th down that was 7 yards out of bounds. The concussion he took in Philly his rookie year was  absolutely brutal & a clear cheap shot. Amazing he held onto that ball. It was about a 25 yard score.

That Philly game was the unfortunate last of about a 3 game stretch of a healthy RT/Burks & the connection looked awfully promising. RT & Burks made a bunch of big plays in those few games. The TNF game in GB was about as elite a passing performance as you’ll ever see & Trey Burks was the  clear guy that night.

Burks especially made me question the scouting department. When he got here out of shape and caught asthma. Then the toe/foot injury that sidelined him after he finally got conditioned enough to get on the field.

A scout should have seen that he was always rounding his routes.  They should have had a good idea of his dedication to the game.  His fitness to play at the highest level of the sport.

It’s a difficult business. His tape in college was incredible. He was basically a small sized TE who could do it all. Was a monster after the catch, devastating down the seam, just as good inside & out. I also saw a breakdown about how he was clearly the best in the draft at separating on various routes & against all coverage. He especially excelled against the press which correlates hugely to pro ball. Basically the analytics & field play looked great for him. I hated the AJB trade but thought it was a great pick. The hit rate in the 1st rd is what? Like 50% at best. Tough gig picking players.

I think those 2 brutal concussions really might’ve taken a toll because where he’s really been weak is the jump/contested balls which he should absolutely own with his size & arm length/hand size. He let that pint size corner beat him in week 2 against the Jets if you remember as a good example…..

I think what did Burks in was he clearly does not love the sport. I called it out pre draft if you go back. It was obvious to see just watching the tape. Totally uninterested blocker, would run his routes half speed when the ball wasn't coming to him etc. Just didn't have the dog in him

You think? I always just thought he had a laid back, country boy personality. But I always listen to you & @Mythos27 when it comes to individual players, especially in the draft, cause you guys really watch these guys. Not just the highlights.

I guess if you think about it there’s no reason a guy as big as him, with such a multi-sport background, would be so weak on the contested stuff for example. It might not be a technique thing, maybe he just doesn’t attack it.
