He's stayed pretty consistently in the middle at any current time in politics. Bernie pushed him left last primary and he's had to stick to that to keep the left support.    I agree though t

We all saw what happened.  There were crimes committed as evidenced by the convictions.  And its obvious that the intent of Trump's mob was to stop the inauguration of a duly elected president.

Watching the d day ceremony this am and it makes me sick we could elect trump who has no respect for our country or institutions. Whether you like Biden or not, the grace, humility, and honor he's dis

1) Trump's convictions are starting to register apparently. 2) Repubs are ensconced in narratives over the facts related to Trump's legal proceedings.

21 percent of independents less likely to back Trump: Poll

Former President Trump’s conviction in the hush money case could turn some independent voters away from him, a new poll found. The Politico/Ipsos poll found that 21 percent of independents said they are less likely to vote for Trump after the conviction, adding that the guilty verdict in Trump’s hush money case is very important to how they will vote in November. Five percent of independents said the verdict was an important factor and that the conviction makes them more likely to support Trump. Just a small share of Republicans surveyed said they would be less likely to back the former president after his conviction.

Forty-one percent of Republicans said the conviction has no impact on their support for Trump and that it was not important in how they will vote. Twenty-eight percent of Republicans said that they were more likely to support Trump and that the guilty verdict was not important in how they vote.

Just 7 percent of Republicans said they are less likely to support Trump and that the conviction was important in determining their vote.

...Republicans in the new survey were also more likely to say that the hush money trial was not fair. Sixty-seven percent of Republicans said that the verdict was not “the result of a fair and impartial judicial process,” while 27 percent of independents and 5 percent of Democrats said the same. The poll also found that 63 percent of Republicans said President Biden was directly involved in the Manhattan district attorney’s decision to bring the New York state case against Trump. Twenty-three percent of independents said the same, according to the poll.

Do we really think there are 21 percent of voters who lived through four years of Trump and THIS is what finally soured them? I hope its true, I just don't know how much I buy it.

I don't either, but it's possible they were people who are independent who usually vote Republican who will now vote 3rd party or just not vote.

I can definitely see some right-leaning voters choosing not to vote. I know a few personally who turned their back on Trump and Republicans after Jan 6th. I just have a hard time believing that didn't sway them, but this did. Who knows though, people are crazy.

The convictions is just one part of it. Add the election denying and Jan 6th to it as well.

It's not easy to see because Trump has always been pretty bad but he's moved in total embarrassment status the last few years. There is a reason a shit ton of Republicans voted for Haley and said in exit interviews they would never vote for Trump.

I absolutely believe there are people who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 that will not vote for him this time. Those Cheney rallies are huge.

I 100% believe that Jan 6th moved the needle and there are people who voted for him in 2020 that won't this time around. I just don't know how much the convictions have moved the needle but fair enough. It's all speculation anyways. I'm still in the camp that has some faith left in America, and I think Trump loses by a large margin anyways.

In 2022 pollsters predicted a red wave.  Didn't happen.

Since then Roe has fallen, democrats have either won or overperformed in special elections everywhere and now Trump has been convicted of felonies and sexual assault.

None of this aligns with current presidential polling.

And the 2020 polls underprojected the Trump turnout, so none of it necessarily means anything

....and Trump lost by 7M+ votes.  So they must have really underprojected Biden's vote as well.
