Houston tripped and fell into a generational QB. Generational QBs can cover up a lot of holes. Plus that roster was better than ours currently. Tunsil alone might be more valuable than just about our entire team combined minus Simmons.

He said "AT SOME POINT, we want to be a team that does not participate in the first wave of free agency." To me that signifies that he understands that point is not now. AAS expects to be competitive. She made that point loud and clear. That's also what I heard. They're going to spend this year all in one offseason in the hopes that by next year they can start the process of getting comp picks. How even last year they had a large in season cap space reserve after starting out broke. Not saying they aren't going to spend it but I would be surprised if they didn't go into the draft(7mil) with another 20 for the season and late additions. If they spend more than 40-50mil I would be surprised. Which is still a big chunk of change. IsntLifeFunny

For some reason I keep thinking the one spot they won't spend big with is WR, but them being linked to Evans means maybe I'm completely wrong. AvgJoe
Curious who folks think will be our first “marquee” signing of free agency. Thoughts?

I'm not sure if it will be the "first" of their signings - but most marquee signing, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess Calvin Ridley just for fun. I could also see them going with Mooney instead though and not wanting to take on the character risk. Some of the big money marquee targets could include: Patrick Queen Robert Hunt Xavier McKinney Leonard Williams/DJ Reader Kendall Fuller might get the best contract of the FA CBs as well and seems to be a prime target, but not sure I'd consider that a marquee signing. I'm not a big believer in spending big on ILB unless it's a truly special guy like Kuechly. Queen is not worth it to me. rns90, and Justafan

S and ILB in terms of the type they should sign are the same fast guys with some range who can cover. So no on older players or guys who can't cover at all. I'm just guessing it's going to be an OL. So Owenu. I almost went with Cushenberry. AvgJoe, and Supernope
socaltitan
Some guys I can see us looking at based on connections/fit: Awuzie Gabe Davis Courtland Sutton (if he gets released) Ridley Morse Jonah Williams Akhello Witherspoon Drew Sample CJ Uzomah Samaje Perine Gardner Johnson
Justafan
Ridley is the obvious answer. I think they'll be very active, but given how many starters they need to replace, they aren't really in a position to chase a bunch of 20+APY contracts. I see a whole bunch of value signings with a couple of really solid high-upside guys and maybe one or two big contracts. tgo
