kind of makes you wonder if Bill Callahan is going to have the running game coordinator/assistant HC title and the responsibilities that comes along with them.

I don' think there's any doubt that Bill Callahan will have a much bigger role than his title implies.

We're freaking out over the appearance of impropriety. Yes, this hire triggers the nepo alarm but others have found him competent enough so maybe he's competent. Idk that this is on the same level on the say the owner of a business making his son who failed math on high school CFO.

If the coach goes, they all go whether they're good, bad or nepo.

So far a solid, if not spectacular, coaching staff. ST's coordinator is a vital piece and I really want to know if they are going to bring in a different S&C staff but all things considered, I do think this has the potential to be a sizeable upgrade from Vrabel's staff. I have some concerns, but there's no such thing as a perfect staff, and we would likely have some concerns no matter who they brought in.  DC and OC are both unproven. Playcalling HC has never actually called plays. Here's to hoping it all works out.

So far, this is shaping up to be the best overall coaching staff Tennessee has had since 2008 provided that they hire a good ST coach and good DL coaches.

am i wrong to feel thats a high bar ?
possibly why the position is still open ?

A very high bar. I think Vrabel gets a lot of the credit Williams deserved for getting anyone off the street ready to play at a high level when Vrabel won coach of the year.

I think part of the delay is that Wilson is largely going to pick his own defensive staff and the clock didn’t start until he was hired as DC.

Also, maybe he is looking to bring in some lower assistant on the KC or SF staff that won’t be available until after the Super Bowl? Or there are just still a number of teams putting together their coaching staffs so it takes time to sort out. We’ll see.

There are still tons and tons of assistant coach openings around the league so I think the carousel is just all still in flux.

Plenty of good options out there for the positions we still need too.
