nine
As a condition of their plea agreements in Georgia, Sidney Powell and Kenney Chesebro agreed to write apology letters for their actions. It appears the letters they wrote were literally a single short sentence with no acknowledgement whatsoever of wrongdoing and no explanation of why they were apologizing or what they were apologizing for. The letters, obtained Thursday by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution through an open records request, were hand-written and terse. Neither letter acknowledges the legitimacy of Democrat Joe Biden’s win in Georgia’s 2020 election nor denounces the baseless conspiracy theories they pushed to claim Trump was cheated out of victory through fraud. “I apologize for my actions in connection with the events in Coffee County,” Powell wrote in a letter dated Oct. 19, the same day she pleaded guilty to six misdemeanors accusing her of conspiring to intentionally interfere with the performance of election duties. “I apologize to the citizens of the state of Georgia and of Fulton County for my involvement in Count 15 of the indictment,” Chesebro wrote in a letter dated Oct. 20, when he appeared in court to plead guilty to one felony charge of conspiracy to commit filing false documents. https://apnews.com/article/georgia-election-case-apology-letters-powell-chesebro-15a8facccf0ee6f1f25b70af6bed8801 IsntLifeFunny

She said she tried 5 defendants at once in a trial and the logistics and follow through became an absolute mess. The one point that stuck with me is how she said each lawyer for each defendant got to cross examine every other defendant and how it became a nightmare. Doing that with 14 some odd defendants and having a jury be able to follow along seems like it could backfire.
Starkiller
A state judge overseeing the election-interference case against former president Donald Trump in Georgia has scheduled a hearing for Feb. 15 to hear evidence regarding accusations that Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis (D) and her lead prosecutor engaged in an improper relationship and mishandled public money. Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee also wrote in his order that Willis must respond to the accusations in writing by Feb. 2. They first came to light last week in a filing from one of Trump’s co-defendants, former campaign aide Mike Roman. The order was obtained by The Washington Post and has since appeared on the case docket. Willis has declined to directly address the explosive accusations. McAfee’s order appears to be forcing her to do so in televised court proceedings, a development that could at the least be embarrassing for the district attorney and at worst derail the investigation completely. In his filing, Roman called for Willis and the lead prosecutor, Nathan Wade, to be removed from the case, and also for the charges to be dismissed against Trump and 14 remaining defendants. Strunk'sDessert
Can Democrats ever get out of their own fucking way? Republicans have party over country. Democrats have fucking, quite literally, over their own agendas. begooode, nine, and IsntLifeFunny
nine
Looks like Willis isn’t denying the allegations…so it’s probably safe to assume they’re true. https://apnews.com/article/willis-wade-relationship-allegations-trump-election-indictment-aef1b2b7fca5bb03d4886cee4c5fee3b This was just appallingly poor judgement by Willis…absolutely mind-numbing. In the midst of one of the most important and highest profile court cases in US history, she allowed the prosecution’s position, integrity, and the entire trial process to be put at risk by her own personal romantic dalliances and entanglements. She made what is often referred to as a “career-limiting decision” in the middle of the most important case of her life. That special prosecutor must have one hell of a cock. Justafan
I mean, this is terrible but I was told that "grabbing them by the pussy" was just locker room talk and that people in positions of power should be able to commit egregious self serving acts and even crimes if they are high enough on the power ladder, so I don't think it should mean much. ctm
It sure looks like misconduct. But the other question here is did her conduct affect the rights of the defendants or the outcome of any of the trials? So far, we haven't seen that. I don’t think it would result in a mistrial or directly influence the court’s decision. But if they can demonstrate a conflict of interest, I’m guessing it could lead to the AG and/or special prosecutor being removed and the case reassigned to a new prosecutor who wouldn’t be as familiar with the details of the case and far less prepared to present it before the court. It’s not a showstopper by any means… But it definitely makes for horrible optics and could potentially result in the proceedings being dragged out and delayed…which plays right into the hands of the defense. Starkiller
One issue that I haven’t heard explored is that Kemp said he wouldn’t remove Willis as the DA using the new ridiculous law the GOP passed in GA. But maybe now that he has an excuse to remove her for misconduct, maybe he will…

That doesn't really matter in terms of the optics. It gave the idiots all the ammunition they needed. What a fucking idiot.
