Bud on suicide watch

I'm still holding out hope Austin or San Antonio can swoop in at the last minute!

We've already gone through this with Nashville SC. Cooper pulled the rug out from under them at the 11th hour and it worked in the city's favor, and the team caved (saving the city over a hundred million in debt). I doubt he would try this with the NFL but some posturing might sweeten the deal. Regardless, they're not dumb enough to try and get back half a billion dollars from the team/nfl.

All of Bud's moronic I told you so's will be proven to be as stupid as they initially sounded in a very short amount of time. Also, I find it funny how Bud ridicules rumors and inference when it comes to the Titans moving on from Tannehill, but when it's something he's in support of (the team relocating), rumors are essentially irrefutable evidence in support of his agenda.

And I'll guarantee if the team does move, they sure as help won't be going to San Antonio.

These aren't rumors.  The city council DID vote to amend the deal that fucks the team to the tune of 470 M.  The team is on record warning them that it threatens the deal unless they reverse it.

LOL thinking some tactic like a bait and switch deal with a fucking MLS team is anywhere close to dealing with the NFL.....The NFL is undefeated in getting new stadiums on their terms.  You simply do it or watch the team leave.

The titans will likely just accept this deal. One spokesperson said it is an issue but I don't think it's some huge nuclear bomb destroying their plans. I wouldn't worry about anything unless AAS speaks up about it. The titans and the NFL essentially wrote the initial agreement and likely baked in some potential concessions.

The council is gambling but it's a relatively small sacrifice for the team to make and not big enough for them to burn the deal.

Edit: the 470 Million revenue loss is a joke btw. The ticket fee is obviously getting passed onto the consumer.

I don't hate Nashville.  It's a nice city.  But I don't care where they play.  I have not lived in the same city where they've played since 1978.......

It's been a simple statement made.  If the city doesn't meet the terms the NFL demands for a new stadium, then the team will find another city that will.  The idea the city has any leverage over the Titans is asinine even at Tard Level.  Especially since the current existing lease has the city on the hooks for lack of maintenance, lack of amenities, and the backwoods shack construction of it.....

I get that.  But there are people openly rooting for the team to move.  If you dislike the city that much root for the Texans since you likely were an Oilers fan.

I'm not rooting for them to move.  I just find it funny that it's taken them a while for a prospective stadium.  And the fact that the current stadium is a POS due to shoddy work.

The team is just going to accept losing that addiitional revenue?  You're an idiot.

If you don't think losing "at least 470 M" is a big deal, I don't know what to tell you.  It's pretty clear the ROI of the project from the team's perspective had this revenue stream in it....

The current stadium was built on the cheap because Bud didn't want to spend a penny of his money, the state only kicked in 60 million, and the city had just financed the arena a couple of years before so they had to come up with a way to do it on the cheap. Besides it was before Jerry and company started building multi billion monuments to their egos to impress their rich friends.

I think it would be hilarious.  Now I don't expect it as the city will cave on this bait and switch act but it would be hilarious.

I do find it fascinating the the Nashvillians have this crazy idea that the city has leverage over the Titans and NFL in this situation.  I mean, literally every major sports team relocation for the past 50 years has been over a new stadium.  And it's always the same story - the city not funding it to the satisfaction of the sports league and team.

It’s not revenue. The city would impose a fee, and the team is free to pay that fee or increase ticket prices to make themselves whole. You’re listening to team PR. It’s the same shit where you pay event bright 10 bucks on top of a $30 ticket. Customers will pay this fee, 100% not the team. The 470 million dollar “revenue loss” number is a joke.

The amendment doesn't take a penny away from the TItans, it still sends the same $3 a ticket for all events into the stadium upkeep; the only way it can be read as taking money from the Titans is if that additional money was given to them and/or events passing on Nashville because of additional fees involved.

Technically the new 3% could end up being less than the intial $3. But that money was never considered to be revenue. It was money for stadium repairs in the future. Also there are plenty of ways for event holders to get around the potential limitations of a 3-10% fee, namely, forcing the customers to just pay it. Which if you seen the price for new football stadium tickets, won’t make a big difference to the bulk of the people going to games.

What's really hilarious is the corporate conortium opposing the ammendment, as if big music business is the slightest bit concerned about how much event goers pay for tickets.

I'm simply sharing what the articles I linked said....And any way you slice it, the city is trying to get a cut of the event revenue that the existing deal has going to the Titans as the landlord of the stadium.  Nate Rau specifically refers to it as event revenue

The city came up with that number BTW but now the mayor's office is telling Rau that it's not accurate because the 10% fee the amendment has is non competitive and would result in lost events.....

The team did poiint out that changing this element of the deal changes the financial details of the entire deal.
