Long time Dolphins beat writer Omar Kelly predicts TE Mike Gesicki will sign with the Titans

Looking at how this potential move would impact the draft/rest of FA, they are going with the reclamation projects/upside guys at WR (Chark maybe James Washington...those types).  Can't really see them splurging on an IOL and Geisicki.  And they will get a vet CB that won't cost a lot.  This all also assumes Landry is re-signed.

So maybe OL in round 1 or WR in the draft?

I like the guy, but I'm tired of this dichotomy at TE. SBs of late seem to always have a great TE. Let's fucking draft one.

You’re already thinking of this wrong my guy.

Not a TE. WR3.

I’m with Daniel Jeremiah on this subject - there should be a totally different position name for players like Gesicki/Ertz/Firkser.

I like “Big Slot”

Well, there are a ton of guys like that in the draft.

This evolution reminds me of the H-back boom. As the passing game became more predominant, full-time FBs were discarded for athletic TEs who, while weaker pure blockers, added a potential threat in the pass game and were good enough blockers to do the job (especially as offenses utilized more varied formations and motions to confuse the defense).

Here you have a mediocre blocking TE, but a much bigger and better blocking WR. Flexibilty. Hopefully a guy like that can't be covered by a LB, but can demolish a S or CB as a blocker. I'd be interested to see how he's utlilized here, as Firkser created the opposite of flexibility -- everyone knew the play if he was in the game.

Saw this on another fan site recently when I was trying to research Tight End blocking stats and grading. It’s from the TE’s last year, but several are few agents again.

If they are dead set on picking up guys with a proven ability to get it done while blocking, then Pharaoh Brown, Mo Alie-Cox, Gerald Everett, and Tyler Kroft could be likely targets.

If you want a younger Mo Alie-Cox you can just draft Virginia TE Jelani Woods in the 4th or maybe 5th round.
