begooode
More difficult to replace than the hardware (and that’s costly as hell for an economy that just got shut the fuck down) will be the fully trained pilots that Russia is losing. Flight simulations are great and all, but you can’t just download that stuff on anyone and frequent sortie trainings just to keep the pilots proficient is one of the costliest undertakings for the military. I’ve spoken to 2 guys in our Poland office and it seems like they’ve been legit concerned about Putin forever. They’re not inclined to see a return of Russian dominance is an understatement. And looking at the history of the last 100 years, it’s unlikely a European country has suffered more during conflict and oppression than Poland. They’d likely punch way above their weight defending their homeland. Edited March 16, 2022 by begooode tgo

Understandable for those in Poland but I keep hearing Americans and others scream about how Russia isn't stopping with Ukraine and this is a repeat of 1939 all over again. Fun fact, Germany had somewhere in the neighborhood of 18 Million troops when they invaded Poland. Russia right now has less than a million active duty troops and at most 900K in reserves. Russia isn't going to invade Europe.... they simply don't have the manpower to do so.

At this point I’m unconvinced that Putin is acting/reacting rationally. That said, I’d have to agree that Poland, et al are safe, especially after seeing the Russian military on display these last 3 weeks. Had Ukraine capitulated early, however, Moldova would have been on the phone. titanruss
Starkiller
On the home front in Russia, it looks like Putin is succeeding in his efforts to bring back the Soviet Union in some ways… tgo, and titanruss 1
