IsntLifeFunny
I think the homosexuality issue will play out during the primaries, because the blacks and Latinos can’t stand the president. They’re going to turn out in 2020 for the general. Mayor Pete will make a good run, but I don’t see him making it through. I don’t think him being gay is the overarching factor but in politics margins matter. I personally think the strongest ticket is Biden/Buttigieg. I could actually see that happening if Biden promises to run as a 1 term president. Buttigieg gains experience on the national level and would then easily destroy any Republican in a debate as the designated nominee for 2024. Biden would be 82 or 83 starting his second term. Ugh. Rough sledding for Dems at the moment. The best hope is a really old guy, or a really old socialist, or a really young gay guy.
Legaltitan
No doubt being gay will hurt Buttigieg in the primary, and I agree it may hurt more than in a general. One of the most important groups, and the most important in the SEC primaries, is African American women. The issue is not as strong with them as with African American men, but it is still an issue, especially in the south. No matter what it will be fascinating to be able to track exactly how all these groups feel about a gay man as a politician. We will get a lot of data at the very least. I don’t see what Buttigieg brings to the ticket as VP, frankly. And I think he would rather run for Senate or Governor than be VP.

That’s the only reason to want it... because Biden is old. But you are also tying yourself to someone else’s fate as president. And being the VP is hardly a ticket to getting elected yourself. It didn’t work out so well for plenty of VPs running to succeed their predecessor.

begooode
Warren has been relentless on passionately forcing the policy discussion. And now even Beto has rolled out a huge climate change proposal. Mayor Pete's open flank is taking hits from the Bernie media influencers on YTube so I'm thinking May will be policies time for Buttigieg, giving him enough time to stump with them before the first debates. Titans279
Quote A Republican source told The Daily Beast that lobbyist Jack Burkman and internet troll Jacob Wohl approached him last week to try to convince him to falsely accuse Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, of engaging him sexually while he was too drunk to consent. The source who spoke to The Daily Beast said Burkman and Wohl made clear that their goal was to kneecap Buttigieg’s momentum in the 2020 presidential race. The man asked to remain anonymous out of a concern that the resulting publicity might imperil his employment, and because he said Wohl and Burkman have a reputation for vindictiveness.
