oldschool
Lol stop getting so offended any time someone doesn't praise Mett or alludes to the fact he may have flaws. You act like I said he can't throw He's to Mettenberger as you were to Young. Can't rationalize with either one of you.
nine
IMO, Mett's sample size (six games) is simply too small to draw any significant conclusions, good or bad.
reo
IMO, Mett's sample size (six games) is simply too small to draw any significant conclusions, good or bad. So do you bank a season on an unknown?
MamlngEnvy
He'll look like a world beater to start next season. It will be like night and day. I sure hope so man. Its probably our only chance at being good lol. I know I mess with a lot of people bout mett but my honest stance is and has been he's our best option, id love to trade down get an extra second and with that extra second pick up best qb available to compete...cuz if mett goes down again and I have to watch cbj take another snap imma flip my shit haha. Mett needs to clean up third downs for sure.. Our o line will be dramatically better to start the season than what mett dealt with . trade back to 5-8 take BPA use extra second on qb and defense the rest of the way. titansfan
Stop acting like the flaws are a big deal, or that nothing else contributed to them-as in playing on a crap team against some pretty decent opposition. I keep hearing about all these "flaws" he has. It's all very out of proportion. His flaws are very minimal, and he's already shown he can correct/improve them. Playing along side garbage was outside of his control. The results you seem to have been expecting in those circumstances were largely unrealistic, no matter who would've been playing QB in those circumstances. He'll look like a world beater to start next season. It will be like night and day. I think most like Mett but he hasn't proven nearly as much as you like to believe
BudsOilers
I like his as well and he's the best option right now to be the starter in 2015 but it's not like he doesn't have real things he has to improve on this offseason. In fact, it's huge for him that he does so if he wants to be the long term guy. If they come out in 2015 and have similar 3rd down inefficiency and struggle to throw those 11-20 yard pass plays, it's likely neither the HC or QB will be around in 2016. MIKE75
Give Mett a decent offensive line and running game and he will improve. Better yet a defense that doesn't give up 30 points a game. Can't make something out of nothing basically this roster was terrible. I thought he did well enough but if they draft a QB bring in someone like Grayson or Mannion for competition. Mythos27
Nothing to avoid in this thread. It's a solid statistical analysis from someone who actually tried to provide something of substance without being an asshole about it. Only thing I can say is that 3rd down efficiency is a better metric of how well an offense as a whole is playing on third downs than how well any one player in that offense is playing on first downs. Of course the rate must rise for us to be a successful team and Mett will have to be better in this area for sure. Kudos to @BudAdams for actually putting forth some effort. IowaOiler
The defense was pathetic, but they might not have given up so many points if the offense could hold the ball for more than 3 downs.

From everything I've read I believe he has just as much enthusiasm and determination as Jake, which is needed to succeed in this league. He also has an air of cockiness about him that Jake never showed. He openly said this was his team his first week. I loved it. I think he has a real shot ton develop because of these characteristics mixed with his baseline talent.
OILERMAN
So do you bank a season on an unknown? vs. what alternative? A rookie QB is an unknown and there aren't any legitimate veteran options.

My money is on neither HC nor QB will be around in 2016. It'll be interesting to see if HC will destroy another QBs career or will QB move on to success? Number9
The defense was pathetic, but they might not have given up so many points if the offense could hold the ball for more than 3 downs. The Titans could not run the ball. It's nearly impossible to have success getting first downs when you can only throw the ball and your OL is shot. You watched the games. I never felt Mett was dragging the team down. They need to work as a team on improving the pass and the run.
