Popular Post OILERMAN
Week 2 saw the Titans promising start come crashing down as the Titans were beaten 26-10 to a reeling mediocre Dallas Cowboy team. The Titans defense was gashed on the ground and Jake Locker played about as bad as possible. The overall outlook for this season has to be re-evaluated and last weeks new found hopes put into check. Even with today's embarrassing loss I find myself extremely excited for the future of this team. This game came down to the Titans getting completely dominated in the 1st half every way possible. Dallas had 209 yards to the Titans 68, the Titans were 0-6 on 3rd down and Jake Locker was 4 of 12 for 26 yards and an INT, with a 7.6 passer rating. Dallas led the game 16-0 at the half and the Titans defense was on the field almost 22 of the 30 minutes. I actually liked what I saw from the Titans defense. They generated a pass rush on Tony Romo and kept Dez Bryant in check very well. Jurrell Casey had two sacks. This defense has three players they cannot lose, Casey, Morgan and McCoutry and once they lost McCourty their defense had little chance considering the amount of time spent on the field in the first half. The Titans gave up way too many rushing yards but they stopped the passing game and got pressure and that's way more important than stopping the run. Without any offensive support the defense was left to wilt. Obviously the big topic from this game is going to be the play of Jake Locker. He was bad but really showed some of the same bad habits he always has, even last week. He was off target and completely erratic in the pocket when his first read isn't open. He's in the habit of ducking his head and panicking the way a rookie would. This is becoming routine: Dallas did a good job of making Locker stand in the pocket and forced him to read the defense and he was incapable. These are basic skills required for a starting QB to succeed. Locker has a strong arm and can throw big league passes that make you think he could turn into a franchise QB, only to let you down in the long run. The reality is he is too flawed and too inconsistent to rely on, there is no way after four years he's shown he can lead a team through the regular season and through the playoffs. I was of the opinion this team would move on from Locker after this season and with his inconsistent play I see no way you can keep him as a long term answer. I don't blame the coaches for sticking him and it's very possible he offers the team the best chance to win games at this very moment if they can minimize his chances to hurt the team. I'm not even willing to concede this season, the Titans have a very easy schedule and you never know how things play out. What I am certain of is this team needs to continue to search for a QB, whether it be Mettenberger or someone not on the roster. The countdown is on for Locker to be replaced as the starting QB.Click here to view the article chef, gatordude731, N/A, and 12 others
AvgJoe
Spot on. Defense could have done better stopping the run, but that didn't beat us. Our QB's inability to get a first down in the first half gassed the D. TOP was ridiculous. We shut down their pass game....whether Romo is 100% or not we did a nice job. If 2nd half Locker was present in the 1st the outcome likely would have been different Edited September 15, 2014 by AvgJoe

Face
That's pretty much it in a nutshell. I actually loved what we did on pass D, we had a good rush & McCourty really locked down Dez, he's become a big time corner. I even liked what BWW did against Dez, he only caught a bunch of short passes & had got lucky with a BS PI call on 3rd & 4. The problem, of course, was how dominant Murray was & Locker was so pitiful we couldn't get them out of running it relentlessly. Locker did look a lot better in the 2nd half but you just can't have your QB putting you in holes like that. If he was just kind of bad in the 1st half instead of incredibly horrible it's a completely different game. As bad as he was it still could've been incredibly different had BP held onto the ball & Rolando McClain not. You really have to wonder what the coaches are saying in the meeting room after today. I'm sure Locker isn't close to being pulled but you never know with his option not picked up.

N/A
Has Oman been hacked?! I just don't know how to handle your optimism, dude ... kinda makes me wanna look for leprechauns ... The team had many positives. The QB play is just horrible. Once the team moves on from Locker, whether soon or starting next off-season, this team can contend probably instantly. Nash
It will take about a half of a season before the defense is solid, the oline protects the qb well, and the receivers and backs understand their roles and plays as second nature....if I'm really thinking of the future of this team, when those components are set, I bring in Mett.. so I'm guessing game 8 or 9 .. prometheus
Rogue
I don't think we were dominated in our run game. Except for Sankey, the RBs were moving the ball. Locker stalled too many drives. This led to playing from behind which snow balled into dismal play. Jesus, just a few completed passes might have changed the rest of the game. Jonboy
What's insane is our offensive line actually looked much improved this week, at least upon first glance. Locker had time in the pocket for the most part. Definitely wasn't harassed like he was last week.
Face
Locked down Dez? Lmao. Yes, he didn't do much at all with McCourty on him. Maybe locked down is too strong but Dez wasn't much of a factor at all until McCourty left the game. He had about 40 yards 10 mins into the 3rd qtr & over 60 in the next qtr or so after the injury. Capricious
Props to Delanie Walker EDIT: I lost count how many opportunities Locker had to run up the field for solid yardage but altered to pass for an incompletion Edited September 15, 2014 by Capricious

The running game looked great, Greene & Dex combined for 9 for 70. In fact the entire team looked good except for the run D, the pass rush was great & the secondary played very well before JMC's injury. The pass protection was very good as well. This is what was so frustrating about the friggin game, they played well in almost all phases yet lost by more than 2 TD's, Locker was that awful. StephenIsLegend
Locker blew me away with how terrible his pocket presence is. He lowers his head and runs around like a blind man trying to find a hidden door. This analysis is spot on. I am in the corner of us just needing solid qb play and we will be remarkably better. Hunter, wright, and Washington are solid. Also, Dex was knocking off some big runs in the second half. He should be the starter.
NashvilleNinja
Countdown has already reached 00:00 imo. Mettenberger needs to be the starter heading into Cinci. Mettamucil
