It's always interesting when people try to use other examples for scenarios like this when in reality there is absolutely nothing that can compare to being a part of something that there are only 32 of in the entire world and worth this much. I always got a chuckle when professional teams go up for sale and people try to paint how certain people probably won't be interested because they would rather own a different franchise.... If you have the means and an opportunity opens up and you want to be an NFL owner, you are not gonna be picky.

Let's say that the Titans could sell for $2B (random ass number that's easy to do math with).... That means enough money could be raised if literally every single person in all of Tennessee pitched in almost $300. That ain't happening.... Along with much larger tax increases for stadium renovations and additional stock buying periods (I think packers raised $65M last time from people wanting to buy a piece of paper with either their or their child's name on it)

I honestly think you are just trying to be offended and think I am knocking a city. Of course the NFL wants to stay and will try very hard to do so. But in a case like this where the city was trying to stand it's ground financially at the negotiating table putting their own demands into the contract is something the NFL isn't going to consider. The NFL loses no PR whatsoever by telling the world that they are moving to a city that is more in step with them.

The entire point all along which for some reason people seem to want to argue against is that the NFL doesn't prioritize Nashville enough to the tune of losing out on funding (it's obviously only about money and they aren't looking to give out a entertainment hub discount) and if the city didn't agree to the contract demands that the NFL wants, the NFL will just gladly move to a city that has no problem signing on the dotted line to hand over 100s of millions. Of course the NFL WANTS to be in Nashville (I've never said anything close to denying that), but they certainly won't treat that city any more special than anyone they've ever done business with and strong armed.

I don't think there's a single person that is unhappy with the city bending over to the NFL. It was expected by everyone because as you said, it's the cost of doing business with them.

To the point that they will give up 100s of millions in stadium fees/taxes? Of course not. You don't even believe that the NFL would prioritize a city's reputation over the bottom line. It's weird how you think that I am crying so much for pointing out how illogical some people are being.

Why do you believe that some place being a travel destination and having a stadium get overrun by away fans buying up tickets from local fans who already paid their dues to the team a thing that NFL prioritizes over a city who would be willing to pay more money? The only thing the NFL has to give it's props to Nashville for IMO is hosting the largest draft Do you honestly believe that Austin and San Antonio would not sell out like other stadiums do?

Milwaukee has had the same shit with the Bucks before their new stadium and the same with the Brewers. At the end of the day the taxes have gone up for residents because of it and the city chipped much much more than they will ever get out of it. Having a sports team is not a successful business venture for cities, I think this has been proven over the course of history basically, so I am always confused why these negotiations are always framed in a way to make it seem like it's a smart financial move for the city... I guess to have the citizens feel good about it.

Alright. And do you want me to bring up the LA Rams again? Long term success is literally the only thing I care about. I would gladly trade 3-4 shit years if it means the owner is possibly willing to splurge in other areas of the team (I don't think that's likely but it's not actively taking money away from the NFL).

I'm not arguing just to argue. I am being realistic that the NFL only cares about the bottom line and if the city was going to be too difficult to work with and not chip in enough money of their own / try to take money out of the NFLs pocket in fees or taxes they will just go to a different city that would gladly pay much more money of theirs. Why would I not want that as a fan of the Titans?

I couldn't care less where the team plays, I just want the team/league to get the most money it can possible because I am a fan of the team. Not the city.

How is going to a new city willing to throw much more money than the current one to build a bigger and better facility, not the definition of long term stability?

Of course it would be funny if the city messed something up trying to strong arm the NFL to squeeze millions out of them. And you could say the exact opposite also on it being beneficial for a team in the long term, a city willing to go all out for a new stadium compared to negotiating with a city trying to take money out of the NFL and franchise's pockets is worse for the franchise than the inconvenience of playing in a new city. I highly doubt the Rams got caught up in the distraction that is moving to a new city and hurt the franchise long term.

The funny thing is that Texas and Florida are both larger than NY and those are pretty much the quintessential red states

I don't despise Nashville (just like majority of out of town fans) but for literally everyone not living in the area, none of us care at all about the location besides I guess you could say the stadium getting overrun every single weekend because opposing fans choose it as their destination game while local fans are fairweather as much as majority of sports fans throughout the country. Nashville is not NYC or LA where there are the mega contracts out of the sport that go alongside with being the face of the city. The location itself means very little and my guess is around 1/3 - 1/2 of NFL teams are in a state that does not have state income tax. I always find it funny when people talk about Nashville being such a good free agent destination for stuff like it being a hip city in the middle of the country.

You just don't get it. If the world really does get to that point where cryptocurrency truly is a currency that is widely regarded as the global default unit of value, it will not be the first crypto ever that actually made a name for itself ever. Sure, you will be able to convert that BTC to whatever more efficient and better crypto eventually people may adopt but that defeats the entire point of your meme about not needing to ever convert BTC into anything else That being said, I don't ever see the world adopting some crytpo made by a no name guy as the global unit of value

I wasnh't even going to touch that major factor cuz it's not relevant to many here who regularly post about crypto besides maybe NN, I haven't bothered looking at YTD stock gains until just now so was sorta surprised how his BTC being up post isn't as much of the brag as it was intended to be

I get that. But the point is that my stock portfolio is down much less than that 1 year time frame of Bitcoin (certainly down a lot less if you go back to when BTC was booming) and it's up almost just as much YTD so if I were to have put all my money in one or the other, the stock market has come out ahead. If you want to say that down the line (or going much further back to before crypto boomed) BTC will show greater growth then sure, there's likely very valid points to make but your chart shows nothing at all related to that.
