Having a good QB makes every little piece of the team that much better, it can mask any weakness. Unbelievable how good Goff, Mahomes have been this year. QBs win by throwing the ball, not running not “scrambling around”. You win in this league in the pocket and that will never change. Downtown Posted October 22, 2018 Report Share Posted October 22, 2018 The current rules absolutely favor a guy like Mahomes (arm strength over accuracy) and speed players like the Chiefs have. The Chiefs receivers are running so wide open it’s ridiculous. Mahomes just needs to get it near them and they are making up for it because no defender is around them to disrupt. Without being able to jam and disrupt off the line, an NFL defense just can’t keep up. Chiefs just constantly run a RPO concept and have the speed to make it work time and time again. Who started the “Mariota is a one read QB thread?” The funny thing is by running their RPO concept all game, Mahomes is actually more of the one-read QB. Alex Smith was also doing this the 1st half of last year. When looking at their O from last season, also don’t forget they added Watkins, a healthy Kelce, and Hunt being more familiar with the system. KJ had 155 against the Fins in Miami and the team had 248 yards rushing; as a result Stafford wasn't forced to throw as much and was 18-22 for 218 and 12 for his first 13. Everyone wants to talk about Minny, Arod, and the Bears with Mack; but they're still in the thick of it and getting better.
