His best years by far were in 2022-2023 in Las Vegas under new Titans OL coach Carmen Bricillo. In 2023 he had an overall grade of 74.6 which was 9th in the NFL. Fine. In 2023 James allowed 19 pressures and 4 sacks on 963 blocking snaps. Last year Linderbaum allowed 26 pressures and 2 sacks on 1,007 snaps. For anyone not just lusting after a dynamic RB, the equation is that what's in the best longterm interests of Cam Ward is the longterm interest of the team. He needs weapons. If the team isn't good on defense that's something I expect Saleh to figure out in short order with more picks. Ward is young, needed a bit of development with his footwork and eye discipline, and is the Franchise QB. The pass rush isn't nearly as important to the team's fortune as is his development, ergo the pass rush can wait and be filled with FA. At least, that's my take on it. Doesn't mean Edge isn't extremely important to team building. If one of the edge players is flot out a better player than anyone on offense then take him. If they're rated similar or the only thing going for them is positional value then you give Ward weapons over filling a need. We aren't there in the rebuild where filling a need is more important than BPA and helping Ward's development.
