If we weren’t set at the interior I’d be all over him in FA this offseason. Already signed an extension with the Ravens.

Doesn’t matter, we don’t need the position but man it seems harder to rebuild than ever. Especially on the FA front. Real game changers just rarely hit UFA anymore. Ya, they need to remove comp picks from the draft and fix the salary cap so teams with unlimited cash cant just keep extending players and adding void years to circumvent he cap. Not sure what they would do exactly. Make it so the deals have to have even cap hits every year and ban void years? Would make it so teams would actualy need cap space in the year they sign a player. Popular Post OzTitan
The cap had much more teeth to it before void years became a common thing. And also before carry over was a thing, which I think was introduced around 2012 or so, and was sort of the catalyst for abusing void years (since you now have more control over how much room you have in future years when contracts void and prorated signing bonus cap hits occur). OILERMAN
I'm going to give Henry some credit for the game last night. Although the run blocking was outstanding and the holes were massive Henry held on to the ball and had no turnovers. rns90, begooode, and tgo 1

To be honest I’ve never been a cap guy, I don’t know the ins & out. But I’m assuming you @OzTitanare correct because there used to be real ramifications back in the day. You could absolutely go all in for a few years but teams that did that knew the ramifications & how bad it would get after 3 years or so. Teams that did this would get decimated. So there was that approach or the more moderate one. But you had to pick one.

Teams can pretty much keep who they want and players on the market are usually flawed. It's much more important now to acquire picks and draft/develop

Many of us have said for years and years that good teams can manipulate the cap without going into cap hell. rns90

But teams sometimes have to release players they want to keep or not sign existing players to extension in order to do so. And btw, there 9 teams over the cap and another 5 teams over the effective cap in 2026. There are going to be some good players released. We haven't seen the final free agency list yet. "Smart" Teams rarely have to do this because of the void year loop hole @OzTitan noted.
