Turns out that the Seahawks at least for now seem to be the big winners of the QB carousel last offseason managed to dump Geno Smith and even get some draft capital then signed Darnold who has been pl

It's a fair criticism against Darnold that he stunk it up last year for the division and in the postseason and yesterday for the division. When he's bad he's really bad and it's always in the big moments.

It's why the Vikes let him go and why I preferred the ceiling with Ward.

But Darnold has been a legit MVP candidate for two years now and the season is still undecided.

The Vikes clearly made a big mistake.

I legit don't know why they chose McCarthy over Darnold. Just a huge blunder. They probably could have got a 1st for McCarthy or just held onto him and let him sit like the Packers did with Love. Now he is damaged goods and any value he had is gone.

The only leeway the Vikings get here is that KOC has won a lot of games with meh QBs and he's known for rehabilitating others likes Daniel Jones. In the end though, you don't let a QB go who was playing at the level Darnold was. Even if you franchise him for one year to see if he does it again.

I'm not going to declare victory on McCarthy just yet but I never understood all the hype going into the 2024 draft.

Darnold is Tannehill. Your thoughts on Tannehill probably color your thoughts on Darnold.

I  was actually thinking the same thing. I'm sure there are difference if you dig into the details but they do occupy the same lane.

He's talented, has some tools, and you one hoped that with an increase in opportunity he'd show even more. I wasn't enamored with him but I did like the potential.

That's a guy you draft in the third round...not with the #10 pick in the draft.

I agree that 10 is a bit rich but I don't think a late 1st would've been egregious. I think he had enough positive traits to warrant a look at him. I don't think it's on the level of taking Anthony Richardson at 4 for example.

According to zack lyons all he needed was some time to learn behind another qb. He didn't specify how many decades.

If AR panned out decades of research and best practices on drafting college QBs would've gone up in smoke. That guy was the biggest project I've seen in years. He was Malik Willis with better athletic traits. The dude had tons of talent but no idea what to do with any of it.

Lyons was a huge supporter of AR in the draft. Its kinda funny he is trying to say all he needed was time to learn now because near the end of last year he was saying he fell for the traits trap and he is going to change the way he evaluates qbs so he doesn't in the future. That didn't last long apparently.

No, but I didn't think AR should have been drafted at all. He was objectively awful in college.

Id have been ok with a 5th rounder on a team with a couple extra picks. I could have even seen the reasoning for as high as a 3rd even if I thought itnwas dumb. There is no way any team should have even contemplated anything higher.
