He’s not some shutdown corner that they can’t afford to lose. McCreary is totally replaceable.

And while he was on his rookie contract he was cost effective to have around. Starting next year he become more expensive than he’s probably worth.

What would be to much in your opinion? Just curious.

Jon Robinson drafted 23 players from 2020-2022. Chig Okonkwo is the lone player that remains. Just in case people need a reminder why this team is in the shape it is in

He’s projected to be getting something like $8M per year in free agency

Higher,  more like 14M per Spotrac and recent slot contracts

However much he gets, that’s a move for a team in contention. A team like the Titans need to be looking to add young guys in the draft who can be the nickel. And with luck a guy like Marcus Harris could take the job.

I think he is an outside guy. Im no cb guy though. I should stick to offensive and defensive linemen. Got a pretty good hit rate with them.

I think he’d be better as a slot, but we’ll see how he does going forward (presumably)

The "doesnt make financial sense as a non contender"  part.  IIs much harder to be contenders next year if we are ok getting rid of young vet leadership / starters / and guys that show any semblance of a bright spot - because we aren't good this year.

We never used to drop guys and have them produce elsewhere. Now, more than half the guys we trade / don't re-sign / cut are producing BETTER a their new stops.

It would be nice to have some patience and let these guys grow together. Just because a guy is replaceable with someone in free agency doesnt mean we should go that route. You pay more for the same level player. Eat a little bit of money for consistency, keep vets in the locker room to help the young guys grow.

There is no way that half of our players are better now than when they were here. More likely that half of the guys we let go are not even on nfl teams lol
