Starkiller
I do think there is a pretty good rank of top fighters in Westeros from the start of the series. You had the Hound, the Mountain, Jamie, Loras, etc. Well Brienne beat the Hound and held her own against Jamie. Then you see Arya fare well against Brienne (granted sparring). So does that make Arya one of the most dangerous fighters in all of Westeros?

So does that make Arya one of the most dangerous fighters in all of Westeros? Brienne was holding back quite a bit for obvious reasons, although she was surprised by Arya's move with the dagger. But who would expect moves like that out of such a tiny person. It's not that Arya can't hold her own and take care of herself, but if she were fighting to the death it'd be a different situation altogether. She might still lose against Arya, but Arya would not get out of the match unscathed. She might even die herself.
Jonboy
My thoughts on the episode. No story spoilers... For me, this episode was like taking Spoils of War and Eastwatch, and then smashing them together. There are some incredibly high highs...but the lows are almost shockingly bad. Production and acting are top-notch. 10/10. No complaints here. This episode has at least two moments that are incredibly powerful and gave me chills actually seeing them on screen. That being said...there's one scene that has to be one of the worst scenes (in terms of writing) in GoT history. It feels out of place and the character motivations in the scene make almost no sense. The scene came across to me like it was from a completely different show...almost like a parody of GoT featuring the real actors. I have no idea what it was trying to get across and the "conclusion" of the scene will leave most viewers scratching their heads in confusion as to what they just watched. I'll be honest, I can forgive a number of the time jumps and teleportations in this episode, but there are several scenes that really ask a lot of the viewer (in terms of suspending your disbelief). I can say I definitely enjoyed the episode....but boy are there some major eye-rolling moments. Justafan
NashvilleNinja
I want to continue to hang around in the thread and talk about this or that but I'm too afraid I'll accidentally run into info about the episode, spoiler or not, so I'm out until at least Sunday post-airing. oldschool
I hate the idea Arya is some master assasin who can hang with someone like Brienne in single combat. 2 years of training and no one can fuck with her? I suspect her character arc in the books is way different. titanruss, and Jamalisms

Brienne could Mountain Arya's face with her boot if she really wanted. Size does matter and Arya would be cut in half so bad some would be screaming the wrong kid died. Or if the Red Viper hadn't been such an arrogant douche and gotten himself killed. But wait a minute... this is a show with dragons, zombies and red witches and you're vag-crying over Arya's fast track training? You can't help yourself, can you? I suspect her character arc in the books is way different. I don't like it either from a realism standpoint. I just keep telling myself to remember this is a complete fantasy world that includes dragons who obey a human master, so I've gotta keep an open mind that maybe Arya's bloodline and a Valyrain steel weapon are big factors here. Obviously if this was real life, Arya would only win a fight with Brienne if she had a bat and Brienne had a knife.
