SleepingTitan
Watching 104.5 and they're suggesting that Eric Morris discovered both Mahomes AND Ward. He's the guy Ward followed from IW to WA S. He was the OC in college for Mahomes too. CanadianTitan

He's the guy Ward followed from IW to WA S. He was the OC in college for Mahomes too. It was in the SI article a week or two ago talking about how Ward pretty well erased all doubt in the Titans minds over whether they should pick him. ++++++ But, again, at that point, the Miami quarterback had already gained separation. The Titans were already well into their process, which began the moment Borgonzi’s introductory press conference ended Jan. 22. Later that day, the new GM and Callahan were on a plane to Dallas for the East–West Shrine Bowl practices. There, they’d meet two days later with Sanders, who’d come to talk with teams (rather than do any of the on-field work). Quietly, the digging on Ward started, too. Workouts were held on the Denton campus of North Texas, about 45 minutes north of Dallas, where a guy named Eric Morris was head football coach. Borgonzi knew the name because Morris was Patrick Mahomes’s offensive coordinator at Texas Tech—the new Titans GM had come from Kansas City, where he was a part of drafting the now-three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback. Morris left Tech in 2018 to become head coach at Incarnate Word. He recruited Ward there, then took him with him when left the FBS school to become offensive coordinator at Washington State in 2022. And while Borgonzi still had a lot to learn about the quarterback, Morris confirmed what he’d already seen on tape when they met in person in Denton. Morris told Borgonzi that the most impressive thing about Ward was how he got better every year. He said that there were, indeed, parallels in Mahomes’s game to Ward’s—in the instincts and feel the two quarterbacks possess. Then, there was Ward as an individual. “Just in terms of the makeup,” Morris told Borgonzi, “he’s everything you want.” https://www.si.com/nfl/how-cam-ward-erased-any-doubts-titans-would-draft-him-top-pick Omar, Justafan, begooode, and 4 others

titanruss
Bud is just an old (not even really that old and likely a bit on the spectrum like probably half the board) dude who is tired of being hurt so he doesnt get excited each offseason. He doesnt think anyone should ever be excited or optimistic - it's a foolish youthful thing. He rarely goes to bat for any player and thats only after they have produced. But it also gives him the ability to bash people who were wrong about a player. Hey, if you never get excited then you cant be let down or made fun of for being wrong! BudsOilers
I guess I don't get the idea of being hurt because some player or team didn't win a game or championship. That said, the over the top stuff, usually by the same people and especially with drafted QB's, is just stupid. The vast majority of the main posters are in their 30's, 40's, and 50's......Like we should expect Ward to be good for 14-17 more points per game or Ward's floor is peak Tannehill - these are things that have been said. I've said there are legit reasons to be excited for what Ward could become. He can throw with anticipation, has off the charts leadership and work ethic, NFL plus arm. There's also legit reasons to be concerned that he won't be able to fix or curtail sloppy mechanics that impact accuracy and some of his decision making.....Likely why he wasn't graded as high as some other #1 overall picks in draft board season. On top of it, we all know the surrounding cast is a work in progress so they are an injury away from multiple vital positions from being awful again and even if healthy odds are they won't be good. FireInTheHole
I think that’s all reasonable. Where things get lost is reading when someone is just trolling for fun, or being silly to be silly. I think his issues are correctable, especially since he eats, sleeps, and breathes football. SleepingTitan

The first ten minutes were exactly what I noticed when watching film. He is excellent reading defenses presnap and post snap and finding what is the actual first read on the play based on the coverage. He isn't Peyton Manning at it but fair to say he crushes Caleb Williams in this area. It is what excites me the most about him. He's got some Drew Brees in him and he scrambles to buy time similar to Mahomes. He isn't even close to being finished growing as a QB. The segment on his sloppy mechanics that make his accuracy scattershot at times of course is the reason for some concern and so is the segment spent on him making poor reads and late throws. He'll have to fix those things if he is going to be a top tier QB. Fair and fully agree...the fact is he needs to tighten up his game. When plays break down especially early in the game like we saw against Cal you simply have to throw the ball away and punt. It sucks but he has to learn it. It is the only flaw I saw in his mentality (not his overall game just game understanding). Hero ball shit has its place, but not often in the first half of games and certainly not on anything other than 3rd down. His mechanics are sloppy, but someone said the other day he took to coaching and fixing that in the off-season. I legit feel like we hit a diamond here. If I have cursed him my apologies my White Collar friend!
