It may not be a goal for fans, but it is for McCoy, the staff and players. Their mindset isn't to tank.  It's to play well, win games and keep their jobs.

The players cn prove themselves without wins. Even McCoy it can be argued could do himself a favor by thinking outside the box. No1 is expecting wins at this point, the players just showing improvement is all anyone is realistically looking for. 

 

Im not saying wins wouldn't help everyone, even if just from a mental state. But for example if the offense starts scoring 20-25ppg and the defense keeps other teams under 30, if they dont win a game at all down the stretch that could be seen as a real positive by being competitive.

McCoy is going to play the best players and try to win games.  He obviously doesn't think that is XR.

That isn't harm. This is a terrible team and Ward has a history with him. The offense is dead last in nearly every metric. Harm is not the word you're looking for.

I remember people scratching their heads we didn't take Jaylen Royals there and Easton Freeze was admittedly apoplectic that we didn't take Ayomanor. There are also people who thought we would take Skattebo. But I dont remember anyone at all thinking we'd take Restrepo, let alone take him over Dike.

I just think the guy the Titans decided to sign, and later bring back to the practice squad, could be given a shot to help round out the depth chart... you know, since he has a history with the starting QB none of the other receivers on the team has.

I wanted to take another edge guy, i also liked the idea of elijah roberts to play that tweener edge/dl role if they didnt want another straight up edge. 

 

I did think royals would be the pick of theyw ent wr though.

I wonder if they would have taken Sai'vion Jones if he'd made it to them. Denver took him a couple spots before Dike and he's in that mold of edge guy Borgonzi supposedly likes so much. 6'5", 280 lbs.

 

I'm glad they took Dike though. Regardless of how Ayo works out Dike is looking like a solid WR2 in the making. And he's already an answered prayer at PR/KR.

Hopefully, though that's a big ask.  But I'd bet that he'll be as effective as any WR in the league on those slants.  He had one of the best times on that route at the combine since they started recording it.  Safeties are going to have to keep an eye on him, which should open things when their coach isn't terrible.

I understand the "we're trying to win games mentality". What I don't understand and have never understood is the idea that this means you never give a young player a chance to surprise you at the expense of a veteran that has already disappointed you.

Maybe week 17 to evaluate some guys  or tank the game for draft purposes.

The universe has already decided that Restrepo is a bum though. So what's the point? And by universe, I mean a certain subset of TR. And a cadre of Titans coaches who have been fired/will possibly be fired at season's end.
