Guest
We ride with Will. There could be a trade down in this draft and we get a lineman or Jeanty. It won't be sexy. In 2026 we get Heisman trophy carrying, National Championship winning, mayo hating, Bloodline ordained Arch Manning.

Drafting a RB, even one as good as Jeanty high, is a fireable offense with this roster. Pollard and Spears are more than enough and this draft is DEEP at RB. Not necessarily by the Titans (I'm hoping for T Mac myself), but you're better off taking a generational RB over a guard or safety or some shit in the top 10. Obviously, ideally you want a LT, pass rusher, QB, or WR/CB picking that high but there are scenarios where Jeanty is worthy as BPA. This idea Carthon was bullied by Vrabel into doing things is pretty funny. If you don’t think a first year GM in a “collaborative” set up with ownership and the HC would defer to some extent to the larger than life head coach figure, you’re crazy. RB is too dependent and too replaceable to be a top 10 pick. The best case for it is a team like the Lions taking Gibbs near the top 10 but those cases are few and far between. This is also one of the deepest RBs drafts I can remember. Last year's was pretty weak.

The PBY guy for them and the beat writer from the main paper there had a podcast last week discussing this. Apparently they love McCarthy and also have a ton of unrestricted FA's that goes along with their 76 M in cap space. Their view was that Darnold is unlikely to be tagged or extended there. Basically said it would take making the SB to change that. Ive been saying this for months.

We know for a fact this happened with moves like Dillard and Skoronski. Thrill

BeedoeLaw
They had to have a plan for this scenario. Surely they did not feel like it was a forgone conclusion that Levis would be a sure thing. If so, they should be fired. I'm anxious to see what is next, because I know I would have some sort of plan in the likely scenario that Levis flopped.

Personally, I'd hit up Justin Fields as a bridge QB and call it a day but I've always been higher on Fields than most. If we are ready to accept it's going to take awhile rebuilding, Fields could be a solid choice. A lot of these young QBs would be a lot better if they weren't immediate starters. Mahomes and Lamar sat before starting, then both came in able to adjust to the speed of the game. Now, it is start PSG1 and the whole world is watching. Most every other player is eased in or gets help developing before it's all on them. This is not an endorsement of Will, but I doubt any of this year's six would look great surrounded by our talent. I would think the plan would have moved from contingency after about the 5th game. He had shown enough by then to realize this was the likely scenario. They should have a pretty good head start on that contingency. Edit: 3rd game Edited December 17, 2024 by BeedoeLaw
