The funny thing about Levin is he was a Never Trumper and supported Cruz in the 2016 primaries. He said he'd never vote for Trump in a general election.  Just like we saw in all the Fox host text

Having the countries leading business leaders involved in nothing new.   Not as much recently, but more so in the past.  John Rockefeller for example was involved, and he was far more wealthy.

Elon is richer than Rockefeller, actually.

America is not a welfare state.  Immigration in the US increases the worker supply, increases economic growth, and does not automatically increase spending.  This is a basic truth about America - the United States was built by immigrants.

I’m going to appeal to authority here:

https://www.fwd.us/news/immigration-inflation/
Economists, including those at the Federal Reserve, have identified persistent worker shortages, and more specifically immigrant worker shortages, as a major contributor to rising inflation.

Immigration is important. No one is denying that. My issue is with the claim that more people but equal or near equal production doesn't cause more inflationary pressure than it relieves wage pressure. That's 100% not true and a basic economic fact.

At some point, shouldn't the economic consensus of actual economists matter or are we still anti-expert in this country?

Show me the economic consensus.

And if I've learned anything from spending time on Titans Report, it's be wary of the consensus.

Points for snark but, again, we're talking actual experts not "expert opinions." And turning to them tends to lead to informed discussion.

There are a lot of places yourself or Starkiller (or whoever you were responding to) could start with if educating yourselves or doing more than talking past eachother is deemed important. One such place is here:

https://www.cbo.gov/publication/60569

They discuss the many impacts of accelerated immigration in recent years (plenty of interesting info there) and deem the inflation impact essentially a wash, even with the accelerated inflation (exceeding previous trends by 8.7 million people over a 5-6 year period).

... but there's plenty of other sources you guys could refer to if the CBO isn't your taste.

The CBO hardly represents a consensus of economists so this exercise is largely pointless. Having said that, the report itself pretty clearly sets limitations on what it is and what it isn't and so immediately excludes itself from any honest discussion on the topic.

"The report provides a broad assessment of possible effects on federal discretionary funding; it does not include estimates of the surge’s effects on state and local budgets."

Well if you can't find a single link that represents every opinion out there in a comprehensive way, then believe whatever you want, right? Using individual sources to begin educating the discussion, while acknowledging many other useful sources? Largely pointless.

I'm willing to accept that you don't want to discuss. I'll move on.

I’ll concede that I don’t particularly want to delve into a deep discussion on the matter. Partially because it takes time and I have better things to do, and partially because I know that there will be no actual discussion but rather accusations, finger pointing, condescension, and/or political propaganda.

Given these basic facts, I agree to move on.

Ah so the counter argument here is that cheaper labor doesn't lead to lower prices?

It sounds like the common sense argument here is for both immigration and antitrust enforcement to prevent price gouging.

Seeing as those policies lost in the election, I am predicting both higher cost of labor, and higher prices.  Thats about as clear a recipe I can think of for increased inflation.
