The Fake News craze has gone so far that reporting actual news is framed as left wing bias. This is the case in Europe too

It's impossible not to question the morality of people who choose to support politicians who spread vile and dangerous rhetoric like that.   If you're willing do that, what else are you will

Been there.  Rick Steves  is correct.

Another Rick Steve banger from the same trip was taking the ferry over to inishmore (Aran Islands) and staying over night. I think there’s less than 1,000 people that live on that particular island and it’s pretty secluded. I wonder how much importance they place on national politics vs local government (I think there’s only one town on the island). I suppose it’s like small town USA,  but the island setting makes me curious, specifically since they’re isolated from the mainland day to day. Do they lean more conservative like here or are they more progressive. I can’t imagine immigration effects them

much.

Honest question for you. It’s my understanding that the corporate income tax rate is much lower in Ireland than the US. How does that jive with your Left brethren in the states who believe we need a much higher corporate tax rate in the states? Why don’t the Left in Ireland want the  corporations to “pay their fair share?”

The left absolutely do want them to, but I disagree with them. It has been great for Ireland. Personally, I would like them to raise it to 15% and stop some of the nonsense levers they pull where some only pay 4/5%, but it looks like that is happening

Even if the US do lower corporate tax rates, I think Ireland is in a decent position as having the European base already set up for a lot of pharma and IT businesses

The Aran islands are a Gaeltacht (Irish language speaking) area, they tend to vote for local issues and overwhelmingly would be concerned about the preservation of the Irish language

For the sake of your country, I hope you elect your version of a MAGA candidate.

I remember reading about a migrant stabbing a bunch of your children or something.  I'm sure there are crazies in all cultures including our own but immigrants should be scrutinized and there should be some sort of background check before letting people in.

I'm not going to pretend I know anything about your country.  Just hope it works out for the best.

Immigration didn’t end up being a big issue in these elections. Ireland is a centrist/progressive country where radical politicians don’t do well

I can't name a single policy by MAGA that makes it radical. Maybe I'm missing something...

But I hope it works out for you, bud.

Mass deportations is a radical policy, massive tariffs are a radical policy just to name a couple but more than that, the whole vibe and communication from the MAGA movement is totally radical. Very aggressive, very interested in stripping individual rights and very malleable in terms of what social issue they wish to rile up anger against next

That doesn’t really happen to the same extent here where it would significantly affect the national elections because that is usually a way to divide lower income and education voters, there’s less of a class split here and way better educated electorate

Securing the border and deporting criminal aliens is radical?

Using tariffs as a negotiating tool is not radical to me. It's a more sustainable way to secure our economy long term.  It's a global economy so I'm not against trade. I'd just prefer trade that's mutually beneficial to both parties involved.

Curious... what are the individual rights that are being stripped or that are going to be stripped from the American people by the Trump admin?

The vibe is excitement from a populous that's been backed into a corner by radical leftists and warmongers encroaching on their rights for over a decade.

Even an otherwise peaceful animal will lash out when backed into a corner.

Threats to free speech, regular media manipulation/lies, centralized power of unaccountable institutions, and the literal circumvention of the democratic process did the American people dirty for too long.  And the people chose to Make America Great Again.  Nothing about that is radical.  Love of country and our constitution should be the norm.

2 million known gotaways. How many already adjudicated that they should not be here but haven't been deported?  Yeah, it happens you dumb fuck.

You are obviously the willfully ignorant. The internet has thousands of stories. But keep your head in the sand.
