Only thing that gives me a brief pause with Byard is that Steve Jackson was his first position coach for his first two years.

I don’t think a reunion is at all likely, but can’t totally rule it out.

Byard isn't that good anymore. He had a massive drop off. So many good young Safeties available, he might get a reduced contract with someone but it won't be the Titans.

He looked reallllly bad in the playoffs. That open field missed tackle on the long Tampa TD was brutal. He had lead in his cleats.

Still feel like we won't spend nearly that much.  The continued talk about building for long term success and needing to be disciplined when spending.  I get the idea ran probably wants to go into the season with around 35-40 mill or so and have significant rollover to next year's cap.

Was about to post something like this. The 3-4 years you have to spend 90% of your cap thing just reset this year. So we can spend as little as we want and roll it all over. Not saying they will but would make sense if they don't love this FA class and don't expect to be back in the thick of it till 2025

I think Byard is completely cooked. He relied on his speed and intelligence to break up passes and get picks. He lost that speed.

It’s weird how he’s fallen off a cliff so fast but the McCourty bros were able to keep going another 3 or 4 years after they lost a step. I guess guys who come in as corners into the league and do well are probably just a lot more athletic than most safeties…

Idk how the eagles used him but that could be a factor as well. He wasn't playing good here but he wasn't terrible like he was for them.

He was pretty bad here, and also playing more of a SS role. Didn’t watch him much for Philly but if they made him go back to being a center fielder/FS, he probably just didn’t have the speed to make up space like he used to.

Id rather have Edmonds back for cheap honestly, unless Byard is cool being back for the vet minimum.

Ya, I don't want him back either unless it's on the cheap cheap. That was more of a question than a statement about his use there.

I don't want him back period.  There are more S on the market than the demand from teams needing them.  The Titans need to sign one under 30 who can still run and has range.  So no old guys .

With Callahan, Becton is somewhat intriguing. Depending on the price, it really wouldn't hurt especially considering how much cap space we have. It's a little similar to the Dillard signing but more defendable in that Becton's main issue has been health, not being benched multiple times under the tutelage of the best OLine coach in the league in Stoutland. Very likely that he would get injured or play likely ass, but for a reasonable enough contract, it's worth a dart throw IMO considering the upside is a long-term answer at OT.

There’s no reason to bring back Byard, even if he could still be a halfway decent S. They need a youth movement. Don’t waste resources on guys at the end of their careers (unless it’s to benefit Levis' development).
