IsntLifeFunny
If calling that the Henry turn around happened alongside the Eddie talk while dogging him at every stage and then calling him completely washed only for him to break 1900 yards the next season is 2-1 I'm not sure how we are keeping score lol. We agreed when it went down. 2018 was the worst year of his career until those last four games and it was obvious something clicked for him. You kept at it afterwards, for years. If you're narrowing the scope that far it's a mile plus sniper shot for you to be on the winning side of this argument.

I think there was a bit of a learning curve with LaFleur’s outside zone in 2018. Mularkey ran a lot more man blocking & even though Dion Lewis was completely phased out in 2018 I’m pretty sure he ran a lot better later in the year in his reduced carries. I may be wrong though. Henry was used to IZ and OZ at Alabama. Lewis was terrible the entire season What happened, in my opinion, is that he knew he was on the block, was pushed to 3rd string and then Fluellen popped a knee on his 3rd carry over Henry, and it forced him to reconcile his talent with his situation by diligent film study with EG. And it clicked for him like a light bulb. What he did those last 4 games of 2018 was insane. It wasn't blocking or defenses that let him go from sub 4 YPc to absolutely dominant. We were both wrong about Henry and Lewis . you were also wrong about Henry not improving due to correcting his own shortcomings(and embarrassing yourself about it a decade). Everything else is unresolved or cloudy. I’m up 2-1 Anything to avoid taking an L huh? This is little kid stuff. I'm good on this.

I still don't think anything clicked for Henry. It's not like he didn't have dud games after 2018, he still had plenty of those games for 20 carries for 50 yards at 2 something ypc and that's why Oilerman can't stand him as a primary runner. Personally I don't think it's his fault per se, but it is his biggest negative and still is. He didn't have a lot of surrounding talent on those early teams and if he gets the focus from the defense you try to shut him down early and get ahead and get the offense to abandon the run. If he's getting single digit carries in games in 2018 you basically know when he's on the field he's probably getting the ball, you focus on him and don't let him get going, and that's why that season was up and down initially imo. I'm sort of surprised at Oman, saying Henry turned it around sort of gives Henry an out. He still has those lackluster games with the Ravens here and there. That's why he thinks he's terrible, and while I see the point, I do think it's unfair to expect a player to have outstanding games every week. If you look at all RBs, even the greats, they have those games.

Changing the subject for a second I just went back & looked at the stats & I didn’t realize how awesome Lewis was in NE yhe year before he signed with us. 5 YPA & a 55% success rate. Jesus talk about falling off a cliff. He had a 3.3 & 33% with us in ‘18. I didn’t know that bad was possible. What's crazy is if you only look at the 2nd half of the season on Lewis's last season in NE. He led in the league among all RBs in several metrics. NE lined up heavy and ran him in 21 personnel and he was dominant. It really was crazy how bad he was here Face

His YPC were completely dependent on the HR that he wasn't hitting at the same scale as he was in 16 and 17. The skill set was always there. That's where the line gets drawn. Doesn't change the fact that yes he ran differently.
