Well politics has been dominated by conservative principles for 4 decades so I’m not sure what Democratic program you could possibly be talking about. Any program a Democratic president could put forward in that time hasn’t had the votes to bypass a filibuster. Many of the most successful domestic policies that were enacted by Democratic presidents (FDR, LBJ, etc) have been whittled away at or outright gutted by the likes of Nixon, Reagan, Bush, and Trump.
 

But as long as you have Republican policies pushing the economic gap between the rich and the poor ever higher, eliminating workers unions and workers rights, cutting budgets for schools and programs for the people then of course things continue to get worse as time goes on.

Well “limited government” became the reaction to LBJ's Civil Rights Act bringing government enforced desegregation, equal rights, etc. It was a nice dog whistle slogan when they couldn’t be overtly racist in defending their subjugation of black Americans.

They're a better idea than trillions of dollars in tax cuts that exceedingly go to the richest people on the planet. I would agree they're not a great idea, but in terms of juxtaposition they're at the least a much better one than that alternative.

They've completely lost that mantle. They have literally tried to monitor girls periods to allow them to compete in HS athletics. It's absolute insanity. 

 

I have my reservations about how to move forward with trans children, but the massive overreach and reaction by Republicans on what amounts to a very small percentage of people/kids is absurd. Combine that with the strict abortion laws and it has forever distinguished them as wanting a much farther reach into our personal lives than any Democrat I can think of with any sort of prominence.

Dems don’t generally have any problem giving up their wealth in the form of raising taxes on the wealthy. It’s the GOP who always gives their wealthy donors big tax handouts and then blocks Dems from repealing them.

 

As for universal basic income, it’s not my preferred option. But when you have a large percentage of Americans unable to make ends meet in the face of artificially rising costs then you have to do something. Perhaps something like what Biden did successfully for 1 year (until Manchin killed it) with the expanded child income tax credit. It cut child poverty by 30% that year. But I guess that qualifies as a failed policy in your book…

Prosecutors on Monday unsealed an indictment against Gal Luft, the co-director of a U.S. think tank, charging him with acting as a Chinese agent and attempting to broker sales of weapons and Iranian oil.

 

The indictment charges Luft with eight counts, including failing to register as a foreign agent, evading oil sanctions, two counts of making false statements to investigators and three counts of illicit arms trafficking.

 

Republicans have touted Luft as an important witness in their investigation into the Biden family's financial dealings, part of which is probing Hunter Biden's alleged links to China. Rep. James Comer, the Republican chairman of the Oversight committee, called Luft "a very credible witness on Biden family corruption" in a tweet last week.

 

In a statement, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams alleged that Luft had "subverted foreign agent registration laws in the United States to seek to promote Chinese policies by acting through a former high-ranking U.S. Government official."

His office wrote that while serving as the co-director of the think tank, Luft "agreed to covertly recruit and pay" the official, an adviser to then President-elect Donald Trump, to "publicly support certain policies with respect to China."

Shit schools because republicans keep draining the school programs. So less educated equals more poor and easier people to take advantage of. Republicans did this.

 

Elimination of programs for family planning... which creates more families with willing parents and happy children and cuts back on abandoned children and single-parent househollds. Republicans did this.

 

Shit culture... racist statement but ok whatever. Their culture exists in the way it does BECAUSE of the horrible treatment for like 3 centuries... again the southern states and largely current republican culture the same thing as former southern demcrat culture created and propegated the majority of this.

This couldnt be further from the truth.. Democrats are all willing to let their tax dollars go to it. We've talked openly and readily about it. WE ALL say here if its for the common good and raises the floor then we want it.
